Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

Fuck I hope the Knies breakout is for real. The SH% and oish% are a touch high, but not crazy high at all. Not even high enough to suggest that this is a luck driven streak either. The most encouraging part of it for me is that the biggest increase in production has come in primary apples. That's driving offence with puck movement, IQ, etc with had been a weakness of his up to this point. He was all hands and physical projection. 0.33 1A/60 last season to 2.06 this season is an obscene improvement, especially without the underlying oish% going stratoshpheric.

For comparison, Mitch had 0.96 1A/60 last season and Monahan led the league with 1.53, so I don't know if 2.06 is sustainable, but even then taking his biggest offensive weakness and turning it into even just being a plus tool this quickly is fucking wild.

He was always a great creative playmaker. Numbers are just catching up to the eye test, that’s all.

Just win baby, that's all I care about. If this is the real Knies, y'all can dunk all over my previous takes as hard as you'd like. I'll even start for you

I still remember one of his earliest plays was that really smart little play along the boards that let Tavares escape and come out from behind the net and score the series winner against TB. Nothing big but super smart and I knew right then that he had that ability.

How much is McDavid enjoying his decision to re up earlier than necessary over there? Enjoy the next three years, buddy.

If he’d just sat tight, after laughers like last night, no one in Edmonton would blame him for leaving.

The Oilers still have a better record than the Leafs, which brings us back to the original question: why would McDavid leave the Oilers just to come to another team in decline?
