Goalies don’t have that much trade value so I agree but Jesper was a rookie of the year type keeper and Hildeby is just a rook

Don’t blame Guerin for trying to optimise a first round goalie on a heater but Blues were right to want more
 
Jesper: 35 games, .916
Hildy: 20 games, .914

The only major difference in their track records is that Wallstadt was a 1st round pick. They even had similar pre & post draft numbers in Sweden, similar AHL numbers as well. I get someone valuing Wallstedt higher, that's fine but I would argue that the difference between those two, is roughly the same difference between the 22 yr old Yurov and the 20 yr old Cowan at most. Fuck, probably less.

That's my point, it's a terrible package to offer for Thomas.
 
1st round picks matter tho in valuations

It’s a not good trade offer but sometimes those get accepted.
 
Surprised the league brought the hammer down on Gary's beloved Golden Knights. Unless like you say it's a feint and will soften on appeal

and Spence is a smallish puck moving/two way RFA that they may not want to pay given the cost and composition of their blueline. Do they want to block their 7th overall pick with a 5-5.5 million dollar Spence extension? Brandon Carlo is a big defender who can play big minutes. Let's fucking go.

Carlo for Spence would be the uber nerd move of the summer. Shit, follow that up with OEL for a 1st and then sign Ryan Shea. The nerds would be running wild.

I kinda want to keep OEL as my bottom pair RD. Chyka paid him in phoenix and I think OEL being named captain of team sweden at the worlds and his probable relationship with Sundin. Trade Reilly for a first rounder next year plus whatever

No one cares what round a 23 yr old was taken in. They're judged on their professional body of work by that point. He was good this year, but again so was Hildeby. But also again, I'm not saying Hildeby is the equivalent in value to him.

Tanev. We're kind of stuck with him for the 12 minutes he stays healthy for this season.

The whole OEL thing would be about turning around and using the cap space on Ryan Shea (he's the somewhat unknown analytics darling in this UFA class) and then using that 1st along with the other stuff we have to go get a top 6 C, and a top 4 RHD.

You’re wrong that nobody cares. You’re always going on about how 89% of the league GMs are idiots but now none of them
are foolish enough to be swayed by pedigree?

There’s a long list of first round busts that get opportunity after opportunity, regardless of their recent performances

And Welstedt is not a bust. He was picked to be a franchise goalie (whether you personally think that’s smart is irrelevant) and has lived up to it so far
