Yeah, after a day or two of well-deserved celebration in response to the way Vegas, Mitch himself and the hockey world as a whole trolled the fuck out of Leaf fans for the first few rounds, I’ll be happy to go back to not having to talk, think about or hopefully hear from this douchebag anymore.

Looking forward to the draft, McKenna, new coach hiring and hopefully an active summer for trades & free agency.
 
-5 with 4 SOG and 1 assist the final 3 games of the Cup final. We went from Conn Smythe talk to getting fewer votes than Stankoven in about a week.

the guy is still presently, at worst, the 3rd best player this franchise has ever drafted. I'm not happy with the way things turned out.

but now that it's said and done, I think the thing I might be maddest about is him scuttling the trade for Rantanen. fuck you, Mitch!

The Rantanen thing is mostly interesting for what it would’ve looked like if we’d dropped him into Mitch’s place for that 2025 playoff run.

At the end of the day though, things probably worked out for the best. We’ll see how McKenna and Rantanen compare in the coming years. And the other factor is that if we did trade Mitch for Rantanen, Treliving and/or Berube might still be here.
 
Honestly, even though he turned down the Rantanen trade and seemingly had one foot in Vegas already near the end, what bothers me the most is this false narrative everyone’s happy to push about how much of a victim he was getting 70m bucks to play in his hometown where he admits he was treated like a god and where most actual fans were actually fairly supportive of keeping the core together til he left, which was again, his perogative.

Remember how, on the eve of training camp, he thought it’d be a good idea to have a sit down interview with TSN to shit all over the Leaf fanbase?

And then all of the shitty, dark and dramatic comments about his time in Toronto throughout this playoff run?

The guy never could keep his own foot out of his mouth or stop trying to portray himself as a victim. And apparently is just incapable of moving on.

To be fair, Adin Hill was one of the like bottom 5 goalies in the league in the regular season. So I get that, in some way. But at the same time, he was good last year, would have been worth a shakeup.

His response just reminded me of Babcock being asked why he refused to ever play Mitch with Auston and he gave some snarky response indicating they were stupid for asking too IIRC. I think we can debate the merits of the change but probably not a great thing if your coach never thinks he can get it wrong and refuses to budge even if it’s not working.
