Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

I think the guys they got are who they are. Not much mystery about them. They've been 4th liners their whole career, they aren't gonna be better than that at 30+ years old. Paul has had 1 year of 4th line and the year before almost 4th line. Roslovic... he'll score but will frustrate you and disappear in stretches. Bob hasn't been elite for two seasons. So you're hoping for miracle bounce backs on Bob and Paul, but everyone else is who they are.

One thing about Chayka: if they struggle scoring goals or struggle in one particular area, I expect him to do something about it mid-season. He's not brad. Of course, there's risk he's not patient enough and does something dumb, but I prefer a proactive aggressive gm.

I'm inching closer to the acceptance stage
I think u Guyz are underrating middle 6 guys who pop 20 goals. Paul and ros have multiple years of doing something we hope Robertson macelli and others over the years could do but we’re never able.

IMO sissons is a head scratcher and I don’t like Bob, but it’s not like we only brought in talentless 4th line bums.

Was thinking the other day that it’s kind of nuts that the leafs gave 38 year old Belfour coming off of a horriblenseason 3/$18 24 years ago vs the 3/$21 to Bob.

the crazy thing is that the depressed salaries have been......the players' choice, for the most part.

I'm a fan of what Paul was 3 years ago, if he can bounceback I'm ecstatic. Roslovic is empty calorie offense in the same way you guys complained about Maccelli. But he's more expensive. No complaints with him, but they've had guys like him before, nothing new.

That’s a good point about McKenna. He’ll have two full years on his resume before being eligible for an extension

I used to be upset about this “burning a year” of ELC to sign a guy with two games left in the season, but it really worked out well in the case of Hutson and Demidov.

If Habs could’ve only extended Hutson this summer (instead of last year) it would’ve easily cost an extra 5-6m/yr. presumably the same will hold true (to a lesser extent) for Demidov if he could only extend next summer
Yeah, seems Hughes has that hack figured out. Luckily Hage is unlikely that level of player. We don't have to worry about him getting $10m on his second deal.
