I can't recall, but even if they were capped out, they obviously could have made some different choices on who to keep, just like when we sent a 1st and Marleau out in order to keep Johnsson and Kapanen, as dumb as that whole thing was for us from both directions of it. Edmonton could've ditched some guys. Now they're on the cusp of being old and have literally nothing to replace McDrai with in two years or less.

I'm sure it's real now, but I think this is the third time I saw a report saying Giroux signed somewhere.
I believe there were some that came out that said he had agreed to go back to Philly. Then the next day you hear rumors again.
Obviously, he wanted to stay in Ottawa and was just using other teams to get his number up. No way he's taking $2M in this environment.

while I wouldn't have minded Giroux, it's also probably a good thing we didn't add a 3rd 38 year old player in a prominent role
