Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

These are the same types of people that count their friends' money, pine for their friends' girlfriends/wives, and revel in any misfortune as though they directly benefit from it somehow.

I'll never understand those people, and that's weird considering how much of a hater I am at heart. I want everyone else to lose every game. I want every non Leaf in the league (who isn't a beloved ex Leaf I wish we still had) to always have the yips every game of their lives.

and even I couldn't fucking imagine wasting a jersey on hating another team. That's not hating, that's some sort of weird envy.
I'm not sure what it is... but it's definitely not love for your team.

I actually don't even get any sort of joy from the Bruins or Leafs losing. Maybe a little relief, but it's a quick "phew" and then move on. Like the Bruins being eliminated if the Habs aren't in the playoffs would give me less enjoyment than a single regular season Habs goal.

That's a great description of it, actually. I feel exactly the same way, no matter how much I might want a team to lose.

Even seeing my least favourite team losing in OT in game 7 of the Cup finals wouldn't compare to the feeling I'd get from the Leafs scoring a single big goal, or winning a single big game.

Let’s be clear here, I enjoy hearing that the Bruins lost every time it happens. I don’t think of the Bruins though. It’s a weird character trait.

Yeah, shadenfreude is no substitute for legitimate joy and excitement.

But when those two are absent, shadenfreude will do.
