Again, we are giving too much benefit of the doubt to human error. The ref saw. It's not an eyesight issue. He saw, and then he made a conscious choice not to call it. And that choice was probably heavily influenced by instructions given to him and all the other officials by the league as to how they wanted this series to be "managed" (i.e. fixed)

I realize that when your team can't muster more than 18 shots in an entire game, you can't really blame the loss on the refs but 18 shots or 81 shots it's clear that the NHL has decided they want Ovie to advance for reasons. The refs are doing what they're told to do in order to effect that outcome.

He shouldn't nuance it. He should have the balls to say the thing. Instead he takes the cowardly, Darren Drieger way out.

"Are the refs in the tank? Well, there's been lots of speculation that they are, however the league office disagrees."
