The issue you don't seem to get about Quebec is that most of these Nationalists have an inferiority complex, and they live in constant fear of assimilation....which is not the case in Ontario for example.

So an English coach/GM means they are ''losing'' grip on their identity....whereas in Ontario or Denver, everyone knows English will remain unchallenged as the main language (especially with Trump building the wall)
 
The more important issue is this: they have to translate to their viewers what an English coach is saying in an interview....so more work on their end, and they often have limited time to get the sound bites after a game, and then post it on social media or TV.

Francois Gagnon explained this last year....he said it's hell when they have to translate everything to the viewers in French, instead of just putting a video of Therrien/Julien explaining things in French

Maybe, but they come from different places. The fear of assimilation is pretty real and definitely something that's omnipresent in Quebec. We've been struggling with inferiority complex but I think it's not as present in the newer generations.

He was a riot, actually went through every game and made specific excuses for every loss (disallowed goals, bad bounces, etc)

My favourite was "Matthews outstanding!" He said this while answering in French -- his command of the language is grade 5 level. Another linguistic highlight "les jouers Squeeze, les debuts Shaky"

Yeah I would agree with this for the most part. I suspect though that the assimilation battle has been lost given the internet.

It was hilarious that for a moment in yesterday's game Galchenyuk was tied for the team lead in goals. He's a good game away from being the second leading scorer on this team.

What about guys like Pacioretty, Hudon, Shaw and Pleks? They've been just as useless.
