Ben Chiarot dealt to Panthers

I was really, really hoping that we could have traded Chiarot straight up for Scott Morrow in Carolina. Had we pulled that off, holy shit.

Morrow, Guhle, Mailloux, Harris would have given the Habs the best non-pro D prospect pool in the whole league.

This return is excellent, though. It's about the same as what we got in return for Toffoli.

The key part of this trade is the first and not the prospect.
 
Smilanic & Heineman are similar type of "maybe" prospects. They're the type of prospects that get traded, because no team will ever make them untouchable. They're like the majority of 2nd/3rd round prospects; Depending on how they develop, maybe they make it, maybe they don't. The high-end prospects almost never get traded.

To me, Florida's first next year is much more interesting. I don't think that this team, which is filled with players who are all having career years, is going to replicate what it's doing this year. They'll still make the playoffs in all likelihood, but top of the league? I find that to be extremely unlikely.
