Buffalo Bills Thread

A Vote For Terry Pegula As Next Bills Owner

It has been rumored that new Buffalo Sabres owner, Terry Pegula, is also interested in purchasing the Bills. What does this mean for Bills fans? Well, to put it short, everything.

Ralph Wilson isn’t getting any younger, and while Bills fans everywhere appreciate what he has done for the area by bringing and keeping the Bills in Western New York, it's time for change. The team's future is likely up in the air after the original and only owner of the team passes away. Not only would Pegula keep the team in Buffalo, where it belongs, he would also bring a huge change in ownership styles.

Pegula's resume as a professional sports team owner only spans a little over a month, but he’s already brought a plethora of changes to the Sabres. From aesthetic changes throughout the arena, to Fan Appreciation and Alumni nights, as well as a "significant" locker room renovation planned once the season is over.

Didn't Pegula already state in his 1st press conference that he has no intentions on buying the team?

I don't see it happening. It would be a god sent (again) but I highly doubt it.

If there is an NFL strike this season...the Argos should play one regular season game at Ralph Wilson Stadium...I joke!

Bills select DT Marcell Dareus at 3rd overall.

Like the pick, we couldn't stop the run and Dareus helps us a ton.

Rounds 2 and 3 are today at 6pm.

I'd like to see the Bills pick Dalton or Ayers with the 33rd pick (just behind the Pats).

Bills Draw Another Interested Buyer

High-profile bond-fund manager Jeffrey Gundlach says he’s in the early stages of attempting to acquire the Buffalo Bills.

“I’m trying to put a group together to buy it,” he said Thursday, adding that he has floated the idea to several wealthy clients for whom he manages money. The discussions are in the early stages, he said. “Now, I’m thinking about thinking about it.”

Brought up in Buffalo, Gundlach was a star fund manager for Trust Co. of the West, or TCW, which he joined as a bond analyst in 1985. After an acrimonious split with TCW, Gundlach founded DoubleLine Capital, which is headquartered in Los Angeles.

Gundlach acknowledged that Bills owner Ralph Wilson is unlikely to part with the franchise while still living. He also acknowledged that buying a sports franchise in Western New York isn’t a huge growth opportunity. “It’s not an investment,” he said. “It’s because I love the Bills.”

UPDATE: A Bills spokesman replied to Gundlach’s statement in an email, saying, “Mr. Wilson has commented publicly many times that he has no intention of selling the team. Beyond that, our team does not offer a comment to this topic.”

Gundlach is not the only potential owner to have express his desire for one of the NFL’s most small-market, hard-luck franchises, a team most famous for having lost four straight Super Bowls with Jim Kelly at quarterback.

Thomas Golisano, former owner of the Buffalo Sabres hockey team, spoke of an interest in the Bills earlier this year. The name of California real estate executive Ed Roski has also surfaced in talks of moving the Bills to the Los Angeles area.
