Was just looking back at the past few weeks for Jonas. It's not like he put those guys in the lineup and just left them there, he has been shifting guys around. Also in his defense, it looks like he did have Wil Myers on the IR, and inserted him back in the lineup because he is supposed to be returning soon. So it's not quite as bad as it looked earlier. Still, pretty much every week he's had injured/minors players on the active roster. Josmil Pinto has been in the minors since June, but active at C all along. Also, for a few weeks a blank spot was apparently out there manning RF. I'm going to assume that led to quite a few extra base hits.
I'm not quite so sure we need to dole out a penalty, but there definitely has to be a warning issued. Can we just all agree to put an active MLB player in all active slots and be done with it? Is that so wrong? It's not fair to try and juggle 37 minor league players around the roster. If 1 or 2 teams can do it, why not all 18 teams that aren't in contention? I'd bet money a number of those guys wouldn't even make a list of Top 500 prospects. They do not all "need" to be owned. If by chance they do, there's reserve spots, and there's trades. Plus it just isn't cool as it's affecting the integrity of the league. Jonas, or in this case the team that owns Jonas' pick this year, is going to pick higher than teams who paid an entry fee, and are playing by the rules, but may legitimately have scored less points.
As I have stated, I really don't care if a team has a couple of minor leaguers in reserve spots. But let's act like we are operating an actual baseball team. The Houston Astros can't announce that Asher Wojciechowski is tonight's starting pitcher. Then have the crowd just sit there for 3 hours watching an empty mound, because Asher is not even in the city or the league.
