Galchenyuk traded for Domi

Julien will absolutely love Domi...
I don’t want this to be extrapolated out of context but there’s a potential for a Marchand type evolution that could (stress could not necessarily will) take place with Domi given the likely character component match between player & coach as stated.

Tocchet will not like 27...
Tocchet is also one of the enlightened batch of coaches & plays a system that should cater to 27s strengths, if anyone may be able to get through to 27, Tocchet would fall into that category.

This will be a fascinating trade to watch play out over time IMO, there’s a wide spectrum of possible outcomes

Max Domi is more of a playmaker.

BTW, Claude Julien seems lost in today's NHL.

We'll see if he can adapt because his whole game plan last year was catastrophic.

MB and Timmins have been talking about speed and skills, let's see if Julien is onboard.

Not talking about scoring as much as developing the asset into a high end contributor.

Trotz was also said to be lost in the modern game...

That.

And a modern day replacement will already be on the bench getting NHL on the job training...

given that MB and Timmins are consistently 3 yrs behind the curve, I wonder what the new NHL trend will win out next season

This time they’ll be ok due to sheer luck - call it Tom Wilson effect

He could be the next Crosby. MB is a genius.

What some people like François Gagnon fail to understand is that nobody's calling Domi a shitty player. He isn't. He's pretty good.

However, we traded a pretty good player who brings more of what we need than Domi provides (goal scoring vs playmaking) and we didn't fill any hole in the organization. I'm much more interested in getting goal scorers than playmakers because they'Re a lot harder to find.

The whole "Galchenyuk didn't have a lot of value" argument is groundless. If he doesn't have great value, you don't trade him.

Just wondering why you would rather trade Max than sign him since goal scoring is tougher to find as you put it, "a bird in the hand .."

MB is basing the trade on Domi's highlight reel from the World Junior's Championship. Looking back is what geniuses do.
Just wondering, if geniuses are better off basing it on 27 starting as #1C & 1st unit PP and being demoted to 4th line LW by end of game 2 for good at WJC?

I dunno, how about age, injury history, contracts given to players at Max's age almost never working out? For starters?

And most importantly, since this team isn't winning any time soon, you can get a solid future asset for him for the time this team becomes close to ready to win again. MaxPac will be well past his prime by the time that happens.
