The canes are really messed up. The first question they must ask is 'who is important to the success of the team'?
And a clue mr. Waddel, it isn't the Staals, cward, semin or skinner. It's your fans. And the most important fans are your STH base.
Second question - how many fans do the Staals, semin, skinner bring in?
Now that you're turned around, what can you do to attract and keep these fans?
We mentioned parking, that would go a great distance.
Second, a lot of fans/STHs take Pride and enjoy the socialization of the event, the tail gating and friendship. A great number find this much more important than the sucky hockey. Find a way to enhance this. Maybe put the storm trooper girls out and have them join in the partying. Maybe send some of the players out for a stint in the parking lot. And don't give us this crap they are mentally preparing for the contest. Maybe meeting the fans at the tailgate will give them something to play for. Yes, the fans are real people, not just small faces in the stands.
Engage the players in youth hockey and other youth oriented programs. Make the players real heroes to the kids.
Now Waddel, use your imagination and garner some team support. You might surprise yourself and increase both the season ticket sales and game sales.
And after I wrote, this appears.
