End of a long and disappointing season. Looking forward to a new and rejuvenated Leafs team in 6 months. I guess tonight doesn't matter for the Sens but we gotta lose!!

Also Preston

I hate that if they win, we're gonna have to wait hours and possibly ~27 hours to find out if they're 5th last.

Just take care of business and be as shit as you can be tonight. I fully expect Willy to play 25 minutes, but I trust they'll suck enough against the sens ahl team to lose while he's on the bench.

Obviously the Leafiest outcome here is a blowout win where they outshoot the Sens like 40-10.

More importantly, do they axe Berube tomorrow or are they gonna drag that shit out too? Stupid question, I know.

If they follow Leaf tradition, the next person in charge would leave Berube in place for another entire season while they sit back and "evaluate".

Like pulling teeth, ya.

Based on the reports/rumours, Pelley loves Berube. Imagine if Berube has Pelley totally in his pocket and is weilding the true power in the org? Puppetmaster.

Your new AI warlords agree!

⚖️ The case against firing him

Too early to judge system impact:
Systems like Berube’s (heavier forecheck, defensive structure) take time to stick—especially with a skill-first roster.

Roster construction still matters more:
The Leafs’ core issues (blue line balance, playoff scoring depth, goaltending swings) aren’t purely coaching problems.

Constant coaching turnover hasn’t worked:
Moving on from Sheldon Keefe didn’t magically fix playoff performance. Another quick hook risks repeating that cycle.

He was hired for the playoffs:
Judging him before at least one postseason run kind of defeats the purpose.

Nah, we're all pretty sure it's just a shit system.

🧭 Bottom line

If Matthews doesn’t buy in, firing Berube is just a temporary bandage.

The real question becomes:

Can this core ever win playing playoff-style hockey?

And if the answer starts looking like “no”…
then the Leafs are staring at their biggest decision in decades.

Tell Claude that the core has already drastically changed. It went from Matthews Marner Nylander Tavares Rielly to Matthews Nylander Knies Mckenna.

Why the fuck do you have to get rid of every single part of the core, Claude? That doesn't make sense. At a certain point maybe build a better team around them.

Fucking Claude.

That was ChatGPT… man is it badly out of date.

But so is Claude. At least it managed to diss my Habs in the process.

The case for firing the coach:
  • Missing the playoffs entirely in the Atlantic, a division where even Montreal made it
  • A .395 win percentage is genuinely poor for a team with this much talent
  • The core of Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Tavares is expensive and aging — wasted seasons hurt
  • The team looks checked out down the stretch

The case for patience:
  • Coaching changes mid-rebuild rarely fix underlying roster or culture problems
  • If ownership/management made poor roster decisions, that's not entirely on the bench
  • A new coach needs time and the right players to succeed

Cunt ass fucking Rangers gonna beat Tampa tonight. And if the leafs lose, that 3rd period 2 goal comeback game against the Kings to get a point will haunt me forever.

Unless they win the lottery, which they can and will.
