GDT #2 - AUG 4, 4pm, SN - Mustish Win

Looks like it's a 4 day minimum quarantine for anyone who leaves the bubble. Could be more. I don't what Mirtle was talking about.

CJ is usually in the know so weird he is tweeting about it too but regardless I don’t expect him to back before Friday with stinger

Trying to play with a stiff neck from that would suck

So I had to bail after the 1st for work and just finished off the rest of the game. First off, I need to just say that I'm heartened to see that the series was not in fact effectively over before this one started, as the odds suggested. Next, what a great team effort by the Leafs, one of the strongest team games I can remember them playing. You can really see the maturity taking hold among the kids. To be down and facing all that scrutiny, and to come and play such a balanced, smart game where they dominated at both ends, was a joy to watch.

The Muzzin injury fucking sucks. It's like that shit always happens to the key players. It's never Spezza or Clifford that goes down. I guess he's out for game 3, but I'm super hopeful he comes back for game 4 because he was great in this one.

Matty was strong as hell, and clutch as fuck with that goal. He and the rest of the team could've had several more, but this fucking nobody goalie is really giving credence to Presty's luck theory. He's one lucky motherfucker so far.

I also enjoyed reading all the bullcrap about Tavares going through the thread. He was great, and scored a huge goal. Enough of this fake captain garbage - appreciate the depth of pure talent we have and know that each of the big boys isn't going to deliver five points every night.

I see a lot of digital feces flung at Marner, and yeah, he wasn't great, but he was a fair bit better than last game, and just looks to me like he's revving up. A guy like him - pure creativity - may need a few to get back into the swing of things. Frankly, I want to see a lot more out of Nylander. He's lacking that assertiveness and hunger that he has when he plays to his elite level. He's gotta get that back and get a lot more aggressive out there. He's not playing to his max ability. Want it, Willy.

And yeah, Holl looks fucking great, that play on Dubois where he just closed him off and shut him down without taking a penalty was fantastic. He's steady as she goes, very calming presence. And Dermott is so criminally underrated. He's got top level speed, really good quick decision-making, and plays a really aggressive game. He never gets the love he deserves.

And Freddy. It's funny, for all the talk here about how the city overpraises him, most of you guys are at the other end of the spectrum, giving him zero credit for anything he does. He was strong tonight, made a bunch of difficult stops, and when he's at his best, like he is, he looks like he's on autopilot. Cool as ice. Hope he stays in this zone.

Love you LOF. I'm happy to see your return! Good call on tavares. The criticism over here was bizarre. He was downright dominant.

And I agree with you on Willy. He's obviously been good (its willy after all, he's always a net positive) but he has more to give.

Lost in all the concern with Jake, there was this 'penalty' call on Kapanen with 2.5 mins left following another, equally obvious call:

It's the type of penalty they should always call that would severely harm untalented teams. But they dont unless it's an even up call. Following the leafs, we don't often see games where they get a lot of pps. Well that's what happens when they get a lot of pps. Everything that the leafs do is a penalty.
