Against a team they're basically even with? Absolutely. They need their pp to win in most cases. That's where their skill shines through in a lot larger of a way than at 5 on 5. It's one if the bigger edges that an ultra skilled team has on their oppositions. I mean they didn't score a single 5 on 5 goal last night

I remember when some here would razz me that Montreal was a PP reliant team a few years ago. How times have changed and the script flipped.

Pittsburgh is also PP reliant and theirs got shutdown. It's why they lost.

I'd never mock a team that is reliant on the pp. Pittsburgh, Chicago, even boston won cups largely because of their great special teams. It's a huge huge part of the sport. And it's really the main edge that super skill teams have. It should be a big part of every thesis that believes that skill wins championships.

For the most part I dont think it has been that lopsided at 5 on 5. Leafs have gotten pretty unlucky there. But still... they shine when they have a man advantage as most skill teams do.
