GDT #49: 2024/1/22 - How to be a Professional

He’s a guy who pulls lazy bs when things aren’t going his way. Hard pass.

I don’t dispute that, but he is generally an ornery cunt that doesn’t put up with bs:

“I love J.T. He’s a f—ing animal. But I even told him, ‘You’re too hard on the kid,'” Richardson told Shane O’Brien on the latest episode of O’Brien’s Missin’ Curfew podcast.

“Richardson indicated that whatever was vexing Miller about Pettersson was something he could see, too — but the approach Miller was taking was the wrong one. You can’t constantly be after him.

Listen. J.T., he’s the man. But there is a lot of tension. And something’s gonna give. I’m not saying you’re going to love every guy on your team — it helps — but something’s gonna give there. We’ll see.”

Richardson’s take tracks with what others who have knowledge in the room have said, that Miller’s brash personality, his loud approach toward his teammates, hasn’t sat well with Pettersson.

Strikes me as a cunt. I appreciate competitiveness but there is a way to get your message across with being an asshole

It’s also not like the guy’s an asshole, but a proven winner at the same time. He spent the first several years of his career with a mediocre Rangers team that never won a thing.

Then he joined Tampa for two playoff runs—the first was their third round loss to Washington, and the second was their infamous first round sweep at the hands of Columbus.

After that, he’s been in Vancouver since, and obviously hasn’t won a damn thing there either.

Competitiveness is channeling whatever is going on around you into effort. Miller quits when he’s angry.
