It's just beyond inane. You wouldn't know there was anything else to this game. Brace yourself for wall to wall blather about it during the broadcast.
 
Its not going anywhere. The elite players in the game are always pitted against each other.

The Leafs are usually just left out of that.

Yeah, I honestly don't care. We have Auston Matthews. I prefer having Auston Matthews. Laine is awesome, but we have Auston Matthews. For a long time the hockey media put Ovy against Crosby and for a bunch of those years seemed pro Ovy. I'll take the deadly 2 way centre every time thanks.
 
I'd definitely say that people were ready to declare Ovy the better player until a couple years in. Time is needed.
 
Im just glad to be in the conversation really. I just don't care who people like better.

I'll take any generational prospect. The fans of teams without them can fight over who is better.
