GDT: Canes @ Habs 1/28 7:30

Can't win them all, everything was working against the Canes tonight. Regroup and show up hungry to start another streak Friday night.
 
Only St. Louis, Anaheim, Colorado and Chicago haven't been shut out this year. We've been shut out 5 times, the same as the Kings and Rangers. Devils, Lightning, Oilers, Flames, Red Wings, Preds and Slugs have been shut out more than us.
 
Friday will be a hard game. St. Louis has five players at the 30 point mark already. If we thought Columbus was a physical, grinding team, St. Louis is that that and then some. Let the guys get back from Montreal, rest, have a couple of practices and come to the arena on Friday ready to go. The games against the Habs was bad, but just move on.

It's too bad they got stuck in Montreal last night. Maybe they practiced there before they got on the plane home? If not, they'll only have tomorrow to practice before the game.
 
Just like about 5-6 other teams in the competive Eastern conference, the Canes have only themselves to blame for the current situation. i.e. taking so long to get things going.
Our record the last dozen or so games is pretty darn good. But because of our slow start, again like a few other teams in the east, one loss in the span of a few wins is still killing us. We win 4 in a row and one loss feels a lot worse than it should.
I think if the boys keep their winning percentage of late, there is a good chance they get in. However, as I am saying, given there are a few teams who've also turned their early season slow starts around currently...it's going to be likely heartbreaking for some. I wouldn't be surprised if the Canes keep it up...and still fall short.
 
We really need to win the next 4 games going into the break. All games at home. No excuses.
 
I think the Metropolitan is turning out to be the way we thought. Really tight, gritty play with the teams getting in being a survival of the fittest. The teams in this division combined with the cap really going to create some competition as seasons wind down.
 
Sounds like Cam Ward got a regular practice in today with Peters being the victim in terms of practice time. So that whole drama is about to start up again. Canes have an open roster spot so they can activate Cam at any time without have to make another roster move.
 
All fits in nicely with a Peters waive or trade before the Olympic break. Otherwise Peters is going to go almost another month before he has any chance to play an actual game again.
 
Cam to Charlotte just means that he's finally ready to get some live fire. That's good news, even if it pushes the needle on the need to do something with Peters. Again ... a healthy Ward and a healthy Khudobin is a GOOD thing, NOT something to worry about.
