GDT: Canes @ Islanders 10/11 7:00

3rd in the league in PP% at 44.4% so far and last in the league with our robust 50% PK number. Not exactly perfect but our PP sure can give the Islanders fits. Will be interesting to see it in action against a team that can kill penalties.

Thanks for making my point. The idea that he can wipe out $15-20 million of salary by the deadline is crazy.

Not too many teams can take on the salary of a Staal or a Semin in mid-season so that is a tall order indeed. Trading Eric Staal away at the deadline certainly will not bring back the return that you would likely get in the summer. Any team headed to the playoffs is not looking to trade away major pieces on the current roster nor do they have the cap space to take on salary as large as Eric's.

I agree. Eric's probably an off-season deal...although Toronto says they'll take him any time. :sarcasm

From Chip's Twitter feed, as the survivors take the ice for practice:

Tlusty / Rask / Lindholm (did Rask ever get a field promotion from camp!)
Gerbe / Nash / Semin (Nash as our 2C)
Malone / McClement / Brown (our checking line)
Terry / Boychuk / Bellemore (...and the rest)

So, Rask, Nash, McClement, and Boychuk down the middle...yep.

Wow, just wow! Can they wear the Checker's jerseys tomorrow night?

As much as Peters (and I) don't care for suiting up 7 Dmen, it might actually make sense to do so this next game. Don't play a DMan at wing, use all 7 Dmen and just rotate the 3 centers we do have (and maybe use Lindholm at center as needs arise). Patrick Brown can also play center, so we have other centers lying around.

I would be ok with playing 11 forwards vs. Buffalo, but just for that game. We need to have 12 forwards for the Rangers Thursday night.

Which one of those lines are you considering the 4th line? All of those lines are pretty shaky looking. Bellemore won't be on that line come game time, I suspect that Rask, Lindholm, Nash, McClement and Brown will all take turns taking shifts with Terry and Boychuk.

They are even more pitiful than we are so far. We've at least been in our 2 games; in their 3 losses they're AVERAGING being outshot 43.7 to 19.0. That's like a beer league game when the other team brings 4 ringers.

The slugs are ahead of the canes as they lost today and are already 0-3.

The Slugs were just referred to as a "pee wee" team by their own coach three games into the season.

This one tonight has all the makings of an instant classic.
