The GI calls (or not) aside, canes were totally neutered tonight besides Jarvis.

I'm guessing this will be an unpopular comment around here, but I thought we played a good game against an outstanding team and just failed to cash in on our opportunities. It was one of those nights where the puck luck (and the officials) didn't go our way, but if you ran that game as a simulation 100 times, I bet you we would have won it roughly 50 of those times.

Yea. I thought they played well. Came out in the first like their hair was on fire.

If you match that intensity up next vs the Wild I like our chances but I have to agree with Rod that everything the NHL did to disallow that first period Canes goal changed the entire landscape of that game and that should not happen, period. No half assed explanation by the NHL is going to dispute the fact that they blew the call, all that time to review it, all those angles to look at, all that technology at their finger tips and you still get it wrong.

They were either both GI or neither was. I think neither should have been. Both were minimal contact and not intentional contact to prevent the goalie from playing the puck.
They need to fix this. But I fear they’ll do something stupid like the NFL did with what is or is not a catch but I feel like that’s what they’ve done already. How else are they this inconsistent from play to play? Also they need to report on the plays. Why this was, why this was not etc. the explanation given last night was not useful.

And IIRC those two rulings in Carolina's favor came in back to back games. So other than one week when they forgot to stick it to the Canes, they've just stuck it to the Canes.
That said, score a couple of freaking goals on a backup goalie and it doesn't matter.
