How is he breaking down? He's just injured like any player can get
The guy is the 4rth most used dman in the league.

Honestly, the worst comeback people use when Weber gets criticized is "You don't like Weber because you love Subban."
Weber is a Hab and Subban isn't. Although Subban is the better player with the better contract, he's irrelevant now. Just like Hilary its time to move on from Subban.
Weber is one of the players that still would help us with the rebuild. But he needs to be moved ASAP, cause he's getting worse. He's not as good as he used to be.

He shouldn't be anymore. Montreal has no choice.
Imo Markov is one of the smartest players I've seen.
His ability to know when he was in trouble and quickly move the puck, and maybe more importantly, know when he had time and actually take an extra few seconds to slow it down and make a smart play is almost unparalleled. Only a couple dmen in my lifetime have had that ability. Lidstrom is the other that come to mind.
Physically Markov was never gifted. He wasn't a little guy, and he had a decent shot, he wasn't slow... but was far from being a speedster. All his success came from his smarts.
Weber's effectiveness comes from his physical attributes. He's not a dummy out there, but he's not remotely close to Markov in the smarts department.

I would give you the benefit of the doubt if you had an argument as to what makes you believe that Weber is on the decline.
About a month ago I called Weber a horse out there and you flat out said he is not.
Weber is by no means Subban because Weber plays the game differently but doesn't mean he is not a quality dman.
He is still one of the best defenders in the game with 40 point capability.

Weber had a better defence corps to play with in Nashville. In Montreal he's pretty much a one man show. He is otherwise just as good as he ever was.
If you've ever had to deal with Leafs fan after even a modest accomplishment like winning a playoff round then you can visualize what they'd be like if they actually won something that matters. Believe me, you don't want to know what that's like nor do you want to know that the Habs played a part in making it happen by giving the Leafs a #1 defenceman. If Toronto is destined to win, let it not be because the Habs gifted the Cup to them.

Game, set and match to Weber. +13 on a crap team like the Habs while Subban was -11 with a team that went to the finals. Switch them back to their original teams and Weber would be about a +50. I shudder to think how far into the minus column PK would be.

Ummmmmmmmm - Subban has better numbers in less games and +/- means nothing. That's been explained to you. Go read about it on the Leafs board if you need a refresher.
And that chart doesn't even talk about their playoff stats.
FYI - Carey Price is Montreal's goalie. Montreal won the division last year and was better than Nashville in the regular season. Now that Montreal sucks Weber is -8 this year. The real argument is that did Weber have a nice plus/minus only because Montreal and Price was GOOD last year.

I would love to have a take back on that trade for sure...I think we need more of what Subban brings to the table than Weber.
But to try and bring down Weber to make him out to look as bad as you want him to Bolduke is nuts.
Anyone who had expectations of Weber being more productive than Subban just doesn't get it.
Weber can be more valuable to a team than Subban if that team is say Toronto or TB or Winnipeg who are blessed with offensive talent on the blueline.
But on a team like ours who are not blessed with offensive talent period we would benefit more from having Subban.
Doesn't mean Weber is not as highly regarded in the hockey realms as Subban....there's a reason one makes team Canada everytime and the other is questionable

I think we all agree now that it was not a great trade . . . because we traded a great young d-man for a great older one . . . so it was pointless from a purely hockey perspective. But if you can't see that Weber is still a great player then you're nuttier than I thought you were, and that's saying something.
Hard to say....he played with some damn good dmen in Nashville like Josi.
Kinda changes the optics when you are actually playing with a partner that you don't need to carry.
Not a coincidence that Weber and Markov duo were probably both at their best last year when they played together.
Carrying Beaulieu who is still a mess in Buffalo, Emelin who has been healthy scratched this year and now Benn who is a #5 guy would definitely make you look worse than playing with bonafied top pairing guys like Seth Jones, Roman Josi or Andrei Markov
