GDT | Game #82 | at Flyers | Tuesday, April 14th 2026 7:00 PM EST

the point is that Zegras' value was low, it would have been a no-brainer to try him....and if he doesn't pan out, you walk away...just like Dach (except Dach actually cost us a lot to get him)....
Dach was a buy low as well and the big 2C Habs hoped and was cheap for 4 years

Injuries killed him , it is what it is

TZ is not the 2C for this team not worth the experiment

1 year to go for the payday

Dach was not a buy low....

We gave a 1st and 3rd rounder....Chicago drafted Frank Nazar with the first rounder we gave them (although nobody knew back then if he was gonna be good or not)

Flyers gave Poehling, 2nd+4th rounder for Zegras.......

Seems like we paid a good price for a reclamation experience (we gave a 1st rounder for a player that even with Chicago hadn't lived up to being drafted 3rd overall)

We would not have drafted Nazar and we needed bodies. Dach's career was ruined by the asshole Blackhawk who hit him late in 2005

The Dach deal is one you make 7 days a week

He might have been the answer , Zegras was never the answer at the 2C spot

He is a stop gap looking for his bag next year

Some similarities to the Laine reclamation project

Verbeek got rid of his butterflies in Zegras and Dysdale

Dach was a gamble — it didn’t work. Hughes needs to learn from Zito to be more patient with acquiring falling assets (ie wait till price is lower)

As for Reinbacher, like many here, I like his game BUT man, does he look stiff.

I think his lack of flexibility will lead to frequent injury problems…. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was one of the big pieces involved in that mysterious deadline deal

Dach is not dead yet. Andy was injured a lot early in his career

Andy was a 4th round pick, not 4th overall so expectations are completely different

Dach can have a decent career and still never be worth our initial trade investment

There are flashes of the tools that made Dach a high pick once in a while, but he’s a step behind and often ineffective.

He played three seasons with the Hawks and produced nothing (missed most of one year due to injury).

He was a gamble on size (though not particularly physical as a player)

As one Canadiens source said after the draft day trade “We’re not sure what we have, but I’m more willing to gamble on someone who’s 6-foot-4.”

Sadly, all these yrs later, we still don’t know.

But like Benoit Pouliot before him, we know he’ll get a lot more opportunities

Was he really a falling asset or needed a change of scenery at 21 on a terrible team where development was bad

Both careers stalled for years on their respective teams

Habs had the framework to get his game going , injuries derailed him shit happens

He had done nothing in 3 yrs after getting drafted. Very Kotkaniemi like
