If they want to unload Bernier, they should be able to. He's got a high salary and cap hit, but they front-loaded the shit out of his contract. After July 1st, 2016, he'll only be owed $2.15M in actual dollars for the remainig year of his contract, while carrying a $4.15M cap hit.
So, I'd imagine they'd be able to get a cap-floor team to maybe cough up a second or third round pick to take a flier on him. Arizona would be an ideal target. They see if he can maybe push the equally awful Mike Smith, and their owner loses two million fewer dollars on the season thanks to his inflated cap hit.
