Rosters TBA, but should be telling over the 2 games (They play again Monday night 7PM) which way some decisions are heading.

Most interested to see the defense pairings, and how Klingberg looks.

not sure if people saw Stutzle's comments about how he heroically took less to win, unlike the Leafs players.

Me, I thought it was nice of Tim to negotiate something with the sens that allows them to miss the playoffs on a reasonable cap budget. hell of a guy.

Players do that. Marchand last year claimed he took so much less. Not sure how much more Stutzle could have gotten with those numbers.
Sens are in cap hell now which is funny with 0 playoff games.

Not the most fun lineup but to be expected. Curious to see Hidelby, Minten and tbh Timmins, who by all accounts worked his ass off this summer and is a guy they may be forced to waive. But hopefully he makes it hard on them.

Marchand secured the bag after he’d established himself as a good offensive player, but immediately before he really took off and became a superstar.

So no, he didn’t “take less”. He took a deal that was at the high-end of fair market value at the time he signed his deal.

If he’d signed even a year later, he’d be a significantly richer man. But I guess rather than dwelling on that, in his own mind he’s retconning that deal into him deliberately taking less because he’s such a good team-first guy.

C: Nylander, Minten, Gambrell, Shaw
W: Domi, Knies, Lafferty, Hirvonen, Steeves, Clifford, Ellis, Slavin/Suthers

LD: Rielly, Lagesson, Lajoie
RD: Liljegren, Timmins, Villeneuve, (Miller)

Most interesting to watch for me will be Minten Knies Timmins Villeneuve Hirvonen Hildeby.

Also, a guy like Steeves has to know that this is kind of a last chance to show something as a "prospect". Not that i expect him to.

Guessed lines

Domi-Nylander-Lafferty
Knies-Minten-Hirvonen
Clifford-Gambrell-Steeves
Suthers/Slavin-Shaw-Ellis
I wonder what the plan is with the D. A mo-lilly pairing would be an interesting development that might mean something for the team. But he might just be splitting up nhl/ahl guys into something like mo-villy, lagesson-lilly, lajoie-Timmins.

Marchand didnt take much less , he got a fair deal before his game took off

A late star bloomer , if he put up these numbers he would of got more

Stuzle was smart taking financial life security , if he keeps it up there is more money at 30

Why risk a bridge deal and possible serious injury

If he had more confidence stutzle would have waited another year to sign.

As it is he signed it coming off a 60pt pace season and a 45pt pace rookie season.

Now he's got a 90pt season and woulda got way more.

Of course now stutzle thinks scoring 90pts on a no defense playing non playoffs team is the same as scoring 100pts on an elite team that plays great defense. But it isn't.
