The Canes return home with a normal-ish start time on the weekend.

The Canes 31 wins at Lenovo Center were tiEd for the most in the league. They’re 3-0 at home in the playoffs. But bad ice is the great equalizer and, with a show last night and warm temperatures today, we’ll see what it looks like tonight. They didn’t practice yesterday, so we won’t know until later if Jankowski is in or not.

The Caps reversed their fortunes from game 1 and played a more aggressive game that keot the Canes from establishing the offensive zone dominance they enjoyed in the first game. The also dented the PK for the first time in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how Carberry deploys Protas without the benefit of last change.

TNT for TV. No Kenny Albert, he’s at his daughter’s graduation.

Washington will definitely have less of a chance to hide Alexeyev on the road, but for Carolina I think the initial plan this evening is to just get back to soaking up possession and getting the flow back to their comfort zone. The Canes are far less likely to make structural changes game to game than the Caps. For them it's more a matter of imposing their will and that's easier with last change. Staal's gonna need to step up his defensive game a bit, and the 1st line REALLY needs to get something on the board today.

Tonight’s officials:

Referees:
Dan O’Rourke #9, Francois St. Laurent #8

Linesmen:
James Tobias #61, Jonny Murray #95

Standby officials: Wake Forest Freddie L’Ecuyer, Julien Fournier

O’Rourke and St. Laurent had Leafs/Panthers game 2. The Canes didn’t have either ref in the 1st round. The Caps won the 2 games they had with them and their 1st round partners.

Jonny Murray is here to add 30 minutes to the run time so everyone can look at him lecture people in the face off circle. Fun.
I yell at the 'look at me' linesmen a lot, but there's a dude across the aisle from me who will have an aneurysm today
