Habs News & Notes: Regular Season 2019-2020

I love the idea of selling Petry for a ransom then acquiring Dumba for Domi +. Habs could walk away with a younger NHL player, a first and prospects and lose Domi and Petry. I'm in.

In the context that Domi is a center who got 72 points just a season ago, it's an overpayment.
 
But in the context that Domi is a ~50ish point forward (which is what he's been for every year except last year), it's a much more "even" trade.

That said, I would not do it simply because of Brodin's age & contract. Domi+ for Dumba, though, I'm all ears.
 
I expect the Minny demand in that Domi+ to be Poehling...without backing down. I would not do Domi + Poehling for Dumba.

Poehling is no star but for the first time in my lifetime following the Habs there’s a potential 3-fairly big bodied Cs on the top-3 lines.
 
I’d do it for both Brodin and Dumba.

Brodin is only 26. I don’t get the too old stuff.

I believe the comment was more in reference to Brodin’s contract situation - UFA after next season vs Domi who’s got another 1-2 seasons as RFA and is 2-years younger

Age + contract.

If Brodin, at his current age, had 3 more years left on his deal after this season, then Domi for Brodin makes sense.

However, age + what it will take to re-sign him ($ + term) makes him unappealing.
 
So, Julien gets a $10,000 fine for unleashing on the refs but Chara only gets half of that for cross-checking Gallagher in the throat.

Makes *perfect* sense. Classic NHL.
 
Makes Kyprios's original statement much more credible because as per usual, this organization is living in the past.

The team said on Monday that week, we should know by the end of the week. A day or two later, Kyprios puts out his report. And then suddenly, right after that creates a shitstorm, they have a prognosis.

Some teams are proactive, some others are reactive.

Julien must have forgotten that he is no longer coaching in Boston and, therefore, no longer has the refs / league in his pocket as he doesnt have Godfather Jacobs protection before he went off on officiating

Didn't quite say that, but yes.

You don't go see a renowned foot specialist for a "sprain". The same reason you don't go seeking an oncologist because you have a laceration on your forehead.

Kyprios ended up being wrong in his Weber's season is likely over scoop, but I don't think he's wrong in the larger scheme of things.
