Its a fair comparable , you are just being sentimental

Hoffman has better hands , better stats , and is in the second tier of potential UFA`S
 
Not that Hoffman wouldn't help our PP greatly, he would, he would also drive Julien to another stroke.
 
While stylistically different, Hoffman is definitely a comparable. I don't think shot contribution should be a major factor, Gally shots from just about anywhere, it doesn't make them good shots.
 
They are only closely comparable in scoring. Having seen both extensively, Hoffman is not as good as Gally. I would not trade Gally for Hoffman.

The numbers bear out what I have seen. There are more, look them up. Gallagher wins the advance stat war easily.

Habs fans seem to discount their own.

In a UFA market their tier levels are comparable

My comparable is strictly for UFA tiers

Both are top 6 players , not elite or front liners

They are different players , more skill and better hands VS more compete and all round

I prefer 11 but the gap isn't that much overall .

Totally agree on shot suppression , plus Hoffman is a better finisher

So essentially Hoffman is good at ballerina tutu hockey and Gallagher is actually good at the game of hockey.

Not discounting my own, I prefer Gallagher. However Hoffman close enough in the range of player to be considered when evaluating contract. I'll take what Hoffman is signing for and add maybe one year and one millon per year for Gallagher.

Who also happens to have a big body, is not afraid of the corners / board battles,and at times shows his mean streak none of which Hoffman comes close to possessing as character traits. Oh yeah there’s also what 7-years age difference...
