There are players like that every year. It's just that, crappy teams like Florida are more open to taking reclamation projects like Juulsen. Which forward or d-man on the current roster are we sacrificing to make room for another team's spare?

Byron? Won't happen since MB loves him.

Also $3.4m is not good money spent. Sending Byron down does one of 2 things: Depth for Laval -or- Frees up $3.4m

No, it doesn't free up $3.4M. It frees up $900k. Send him down to Laval, fine, but he'll still count as $2.5M against the cap.

Byron isn't terrible, but he's definitely overpaid.

Shane Churla being in Florida was surely a factor in claiming Juulsen. Bummer that he spent the last two years on IR. I liked him before his injury.

agreed. I know what Mete is. Not good. I don't know what Juulsen is. Is he also not good? Possibly, but I'd have kept him around for a look.

I dont think Perry or Frolik get claimed. They have to be put on an active roster if they are

Who knows. If he can stay healthy, he's an NHLer.

There was no alternative to this. Juulsen can't be the team's 8th d-man, sitting around not playing. He needs to play. In an ideal world, he would have played for Laval this season but that's the risk of waivers.

I wish him the best. He's a good, honest player.

Same. Unfortunate situation for us but I'm not sure we could have done anything differently. I wish him the best.
