Star players are getting paid regardless but winning and family factors big time

JT took less to come home , nobody will go to Buffalo even with an overpay because the team stinks

Other teams need to be smarter on contract negotiations and not over paying depth players

You cant have Gally, Armia, Anderson and Dvo on Florida making 20 mil and try to keep your depth

Florida gets OEL for 1 mil then walks away having other teams pay 3-4x more in UFA

You have to lock up your young core like the Habs did with Slaf , Nick, and Cole

Doesn’t change anything, take two equally smart teams, but only one in a no tax state. That one has a 10M cap space advantage over the other one. Easier to be smart when all your players are taking 10% less to play with you. Easier to trade those players too.

Being smarter is only an advantage over dumb teams.

10 mil is the mistake your make with depth players

You pay your stars ,the rest is easy

There is no excuse to not retain your core group

Every year there are players starving for work in August or 1 year vets looking at the minimum

Those productive Geekie types are cheap for years before they want their bag

If you have a legit 90 mil to work with but 10 mil is not your slush fund like Florida , work around it

You can find a 1.5 Amia or DVO that alone is 6 mil in cap savings .

Still an advantage, you can't deny it. Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Vegas have smart management, and a no tax advantage. They can afford to pay for luxury support players, while other teams can't and have to go to the bargain bin. In the playoffs, it's often the difference.
