Habs Season Thread: Regular Season 2025-26

😂🤣😅 Rolling Stone? Rolling fucking Stone? Do you even hear yourself?

Rolling Stone and all the other US based music publications are FUCKING GARBAGE! They celebrate nothing but tired, played out 3 chord guitar rock and hair metal.

Try looking at the reviews from a CREDIBLE music publication like NME or Melody Maker. Fucking Rolling Stone, lol.

The only major country where New Gold Dream didnt go either gold or platinum was the US, home of the inbred hillbillies who think country music is real.
It took the "The Breakfast Club" to make them popular here.

I actually miss John Griffin and Mark LePage, which is disturbing for me to acknowledge.

Because they have good beats that get people moving. EBM stands for Electronic Body Music. It is designed to get you pumped up. Listen to the first few bars of any of the tunes I cited. Far superior to whatever the fuck was happening with that Kanye song.
you don't understand the young because you didn't have children. My son is fine with stuff like Depeche Mode when I listen to it but there is a pretty good chance when he is in car with with me that he will change the channel to Hip Hop Nation and try to show me the differences between Da Baby and Lil' Baby.

as usual, when you disagree with something, you just attack the source. You love NME because you agree with it (yet on this NME list of the best albums from the 1980s, your little favourite item is not listed), guess NME is trash now too

You gotta get him into the Smiths and Morrisey solo for some really good, tuneful depressing songs, although DM is up there too.

All those publications are biased to their own preferences. Rolling Stone is stuck in the 60-70s, but love hip hop as well. They generally dislike metal, progressive and punk music.

NME is heavily slanted to alternative music and new-wave and seems to ignore everything else. Melody Maker is fascinated with indie.

How is it suspect? It's a consensus pick for one of the greatest albums. What would you prefer? Hungry Like the Wolf?

I personally would probably choose something from Orbital or some Benelux EBM band like "Flesh" by A Split Second, or "Headhunter" by Front 242. Or maybe "Control I'm Here" by Nitzer Ebb. Or maybe something French like "L'Aventurier" by Indochine.
Doolittle was the only good 80s album

Did they play "Monkey Gone to Heaven" in tribute?
Do not think the band knew.... Though they did play wave of mutilation a second time as part of the first encore. So maybe they found out during the leave the stage and pretend you are not coming back bit.

It was the 20th anniversary of Doolittle tour
They played Wave of Mutilation, I Bleed, Here Comes Your Man, Dead, then Monkey Gone to Heaven.

That was probably about the time of the set that word started to spread

They are different. One is horseshit and the other is bullshit.

This is what NME correspondent Paul Morley, who went on to found Zang Tumm Tumb Records and was a member of ZTT mainstays Art of Noise, wrote in NME when NGD was first released, and I quote...

"My loyalty towards Simple Minds is known to be considerable, yet even I am jarred by the constant beauty of this music. New Gold Dream robs me of my breath."

No one ever wrote that about a Bon Jovi song.
