Plek will also be a poke check sissy who doesn't want to get his nose dirty.. that is one reason why he keeps going through wingers, it is tough to play with him under MT system ... he needs to shine in the playoffs, he fades to black... time to move on
 
The real issue with the Habs these past playoffs were special teams.

Fire Carrier already. He is utter shit as a PP coach. Gallant leaves and the PP goes to pot.

The PP sucked the last half season & into the playoffs last year under Gallant - the PP has sucked over 1.5 seasons and 2-playoff drives now.

You mean Lacroix? And Gallant wasn't that much better.

I really hope they hire someone just for special teams.
 
When your entire coaching philosophy is based on not scoring you can't act surprised when your power play doesn't either. This is not a team that hits the ice looking to score goals. They've had the prevention of goals drilled into them. They know that the key to staying out of the coach's dog house is to play defence. That is what the coach incentivizes and rewards. You get too cute trying to generate offence and you get your wings clipped. You take a chance to make a play and it fails? You get punished. If you're young enough and not paid very much, you get sent to the minors and are forgotten about. Such is life under the oppression of the Therrien junta.

PP was 20% in last playoffs.
But, yes it sucked last 1/2 year under Gallant.
But, he also had it at 20% in 12-13. So he was all over the board as far as success goes.

Not sure is simply coaching that is biggest issue, lack of highly skilled forwards likely as much to do with it.

Special teams is at least 50% coaching. Arizona was running at 20% with barely any talent. Anaheim was 3rd last despite plenty of high end offensive talent.

This is one area where the play is fairly structured and can be heavily influenced by the coaches. Of course the players still needs to execute so that's why I split the responsibility in half.

I agree. Working PP would have propelled us to the finals.

Exactly. He is a good player and helps us get into the playoffs but he has OCD when it comes to playoff contact and this results in his wingers getting sacrificed to the lambs on each shift. I wouldn't mind so much if he played like Crosby but even Crosby gets concussions from people who can touch him.

He is a player who can be exchanged for another good player. We have few of those without touching the core.

We will never win a cup with Pleks, DD & Eller as our 3 top centers. Plekanec is the only one of that group that will get good interest around the league. I wouldn't give him away for draft picks but something has to give with the Habs because adding 4th line scrubs at the trade deadline isn't going to cut it.

The PP sucked from day 1. You don't go all year and into the playoffs and then blame the guy who was given that role to manage it. You fire the guy who gave him that role and did jack squat about it all year. The problem with MT is that he is stubborn. When we all joke on here about declining PP's when they were called late in the season or in the playoffs you just know MT was saying to himself... this is the time we turn it around. Then he says it on the next one and so on. Then at the end of year he mentions that the PP was a problem. Ya think? So trying the same thing all year wasn't a fix? Idiot.

Molson is willing to buy anything to help his team win so are we to believe there was no one out there that we could hire to better the PP?
