Habs trade PK Subban to Predators for Shea Weber

I did notice quite a few shifts where we were pinned in our zone with Weber on the ice. When he gets stationary around our net, he wasn't getting to many pucks, the Sabres were just circling around him.

Weber isn't the guy who gets loose pucks. He's the guy who rubs opponents out when they try to screen or crash the goalie. He patrols the "no fly zone" in front of our net.

True enough but our D is slow. That's why it would be nice if Sergachev can play in the top 6 this season.
Desperately need to dump Emelin & his contract. Wonder who MB was scouting at the Stars / Avs game last night, with Team Canada all done now....

If Emelin keeps playing like he has in the first two games, I'd be more than happy to keep him. Markov is quite concerning however.

Pateryn, Beaulieu, Petry have to get increased ice time as the years goes on...sad that we need to ask this of them, but necessary

Emelin was good in the first game.

Last night, he wasn't good. Trapped in his own end all night.

I thought he was good, he was engaged and playing physical, that's really all I can expect from him. He did some fine work on the PK as well.

Advanced stats>game.

Best Corsi wins the cup.

This team plays Therrien-style hockey. Therrien hockey is getting hemmed in your zone and hoping the goalie bails you out and the forwards score on their three or four chances and the team wins 2-1. It was okay when he was a rookie with a weak roster `15 years ago. Needless to say with a better roster and more experienced, one would think that he would have evolved as a coach, but he hasn't. Fortunately for him he has a GM that believes in him. This team is going to be fighting for seventh or eighth all season. Flawed team with zero character and a mediocre coach that is patched together with an all-world goalie who is only in Montreal for two more years.

3 out of 4 points with no price in net, 7 goals scored? Give your head a shake dude.

Why is that "sad"? Petry signed a huge deal with us and NB is the only good young d-man we currently have. Their ice time should be increasing.

Yes.

People need to get less defiensive when we say that Weber will struggle under Therrien. Therrien's coaching style doesn't lead to big offensive numbers typically.

Markov remind me of last years or better to say year of Gonchar, hope he realizes when it is the right time to hang up his skates, because with what he did for this organization i don't want him have see Gonchar II scenario in his case. Markov can't even take 20 minutes a game anymore...

Unfortunately MT would rather play Markov 20+ min because he makes the simple plays. He can't deal with the mistakes of the more dynamic younger players like NB or Sergachev.

Good is the enemy of great.

The essence of the mental midget dilemma as I see it - play not to lose vs play to win (which was Jacques Lemaire's motto)
