Habs trade PK Subban to Predators for Shea Weber

It seems to me that insiders like Ferraro are able to distinguish the difference between sizzle and steak, unlike a lot of fans. Look at the cheers Andrew Shaw got the other night. That was all about sizzle. Weber may never pull people out of their seats the way Subban does on an end to end rush but he's a better defenceman just the same.

Karlsson, Doughty, Keith, Letang, Burns comes to mind.

But I would definitely put Subban in the top 10. Subban, Weber, Josi, Suter, Hedman, OEL completes the top 11 for me.
 
PK Subban was a TOP 20 passer in the NHL in each of the last 3 seasons.

The year before that in 2012-2013 he finished 1 assists shy of being TOP 20 passer, but he won something called the James Norris Memorial Trophy.

Subban is more than sizzle and end to end rushes, he's got a lot more steak to his game than people give him credit for.
 
Habs fans tend to over-value their players. They often confuse "good" with "great".

For instance, there are a couple of posters here who have said that they would be open to retiring #11 for Saku Koivu.

Perhaps he is, but what he's saying is nothing new, when the deal went down both Bobby Mac and Gord Miller said none of the GMs they polled around the league said Subban was a top-15 Dman. As many have pointed out we don't know the population of GMs polled.

Not sure what the hell you are talking about here.

Stats don't equal sizzle. Stats wise Subban is great.

The "eye test" equals sizzle. Something that Subban is also great at.

Sure he may look good and produce real good but he's not good cause you know... Old school hockey types say so.

It should be an interesting season, seeing that Molson has already admonished Stu Cowan of the Gazette on Twitter for saying there were empty seats at Monday night's game against New Jersey.

Ray is one of the most respected commentators in hockey , like him or not . You will have a debate from many in the game if PK is in the top 10-15 as a d man .

You could add McDonough , Pietrangelo , Giordano among others who can be ranked as a better option than PK for debate .

It's a moot point , he is gone and time to focus on the Habs season .

I agree. There's not a poster here who possesses the breadth of hockey konwledge that he does. Probably the best in the biz. Doesn't mean he's right about PK but Ferraro merits great respect.
