Hamilton Bulldogs 2013-2014

I understand that the AHL clubs serve first and foremost in the development and that results should be #2.

But seriously, I have to say that development becomes impeded when you can't have your prospects showcase their stuff in the playoffs.

MB needs to start putting together a team down there that can win and if it means adding a few more veterans next year to ensure that well I think it's well worth it if it helps the team get in the playoffs and play some meaningful games.
 
Lefebvre has not been doing his job either way. There has been a serious lack of progress by our prospects in Hamilton in the last 2 years.
 
Lefebvre should obviously scratch Owens-Czarnik to fit in Vail-Crispy, so of course it will be Andrighetto-Thomas that will sit.
 
fire Lefebvre ! I wonder how this guy got the job . not a single habs proscpet got better under during his coaching time !

I want Lefebvre gone, and yes as a whole must haven't developped... but "not a single one" isn't exactly true either.... Gallagher played half a season under him... Bournival played under him, Pateryn and Andrighetto have improved as has Tinordi.
 
Has Tinordi really improved? I though he was better last year.

He's gotten more mobile and stronger which doesn't really have much to do with coaching but has his overall game gotten much better?
 
Crisp-Vail got 1st game under belt and played together, 4th line minutes mostly with Nattinen or Leblanc.
Uneventful, but Crisp was physical and mixed it up a bit.
Andrighetto with another sweet goal, 16g-40pts in 57 games, very solid rookie season (besides 12 game injury stint in Nov-Dec)
Pateryn (and Ellis) had good game, but nothing new.
Beaulieu digging a nice hole and passed Tarnasty in 15 fewer games, with a nice -17. Back to back games with braincramps on PP for him and maybe even Nygren is better defensively?
 
Beaulieu's Achilles heal always has been (and unfortunately probably always will be) his nonchalant play. It's like he doesn't ever feel pressure, and not in a good way.

Whether he makes it as a regular NHLer remains to be seen, but he has some really, really good tools to make it.

I didn't see that when he was in the NHL....it may just be a motivation issue right now being on a non playoff AHL team when he belives he should be with the big club...

His nonchalant play was apparent even when he was in Junior.

If you can ever watch the highlights for the 2012 Memorial Cup semi-finals game between Shawinigan & St. John's, the go-ahead goal late in the third for Shawinigan has Beaulieu behind the net, calmly taking his time to take the puck and suddenly a player from Shawinigan comes steal the puck from him and seconds later, they score. Beaulieu had no idea there was a player forechecking on him.

He's had the same type of mistakes in the AHL & in the NHL. They haven't been as noticeable in the NHL because he hasn't played much & they haven't been direct results of the opponent scoring.

Bang on sir.
Sea Dogs points 45 then 45 then 52, dick-all improvement.
Bulldogs last year 0.46pts/game, this year 0.47.

I think it is called 'sense of entitlement'. No one would argue he aint got skills, but he is lacking what Gallagher has in spades! Desire-Focus-Balls-Heart etc etc

But, 'between the ears' is hardest aspect for scouts to predict.
But, he is a 21 year old d-man and may yet wake the fork up and get head screwed on correctly?

Dietz has 1/2 the skill but he worked his ass off with the Blades and was 1st on- last off every practice. But, cant teach that.
 
Maybe MB is on to something by testing his mental fortitude by giving him a taste and taking it away to see how he reacts.

Maybe, but they're also playing a dangerous game with him. Hopefully they don't destroy the kid and it ends up making him better.
 
How can they destroy him? Has that ever happened to any player?
Hope Beaulieu does well, but #2 is a tad bit more deserving (if that got anything to do with anything) of a call up.
