Hey Nerds: Blockchain

How's your covid churn game going? Mine has been mediocre to downright boring. I've been hitting singles/bunting for the most part. Since the pandemic began this is all I've done:

1. Scotia Momentum visa for $200 cashback + $60 GCR
2. I opened a Scotiabank account for a $300 bonus + $75 amazon card + was able to get another card for free. Decided on the Passport Infinite for $300 in travel monies or a lesser rate for other shit + $60 cashback. Just redeemed $200 in Costco dollars plus a $30 card credit.
3. Best Western card (I do this one once in awhile for shits) - $55 GCR + 20,000 points. I'm up to infinity points now pretty much so why not. You'd never guess, but Best Western has some terrific properties in Europe. Otherwise I'm fine using the points for cheap shorter stays. It's nice to have that option too.
3. TD Aeroplan for 35,000 points + product switched to TD cashback for 10% cashback on the first $2000 spent in the first 3 months.

So overall $1,180 in cash and prizes + 35,000 Aeroplan points and 20,000 BW points which are worth... Who the fuck knows right now. Let's say a conservative $450 in an absolute worst case nightmare scenario. $1630. I used to profit from that in 1 card back in the glory days. But this will probably be the new churning norm for me. Slowly chipping away. Oh well.

When COVID started I had recently applied for a COBALT and ALASKA AIR. Got those min spends done but haven't started a new plan yet. Doesn't seem like there's much out there. I saw the Momentum $200 cashback offer but I did that one recently, so I passed. Frankly, Scotia was a bit of a pain in the ass to deal with...

Yeah the offers are worsening, particularly Amex, though they have significantly upgraded their perk game. I have some Alaska miles but they're just sitting there at the moment. Think I need to grab the card again soon to get some more points. I think my balance is far too low for anything meaningful. I haven't checked my contacts to see if these points are even worth anything at the moment. I might be stuck.

Oh well. Six months in 2020 and it's clearly been my worst year of churning. Just ran the numbers for the first time in that post and man that's depressing. Not seeing much out there either.

Here's a good resource if you're ever looking to add: deleting because it posts the entire thread for some reason.

I dont know why that didn't just link to the fucking thread. My apologies for the 5000 word sermon. Habsy's fault really.

I blame the site not capable of posting a simple link without posting a whole fucking thread in here.

Fuck you habsy. Florida sucks balls.

my fave contra indicator has been calling for a meltup all afternoon. might still happen, but I went short as per my rules...and already booked some quick gains (I'm afraid of 3:50 robot today as it has been awfully nice to me lately, so down to small short with a break even stop)

Something about using some guy who takes himself seriously as a Technical Analyst as a contra indicator makes me laugh very hard. Dude pours his heart into it for his twitter followers. And you just do the opposite of what he says. Fantastic stuff.

that guy is insane -- he's acting like the market crashed this week, while all it did was shed a few percent

He changes his mind a lot; and leaves himself lots of outs, so I only fade his most specific alerts

Just finished my beautiful chimi burgers. Wonderful invention that probably already exists somewhere. That was phenomenal but the fries with the chimi-mayo dip thing? It's a keeper.

Oh and Curaleaf closes above $10 which is interesting. No other MJ name really followed along. I'll take it.

The U.S. could legalize marijuana at the federal level as soon as 2021 if Joe Biden is able to win the presidential election and Democrats take control of the Senate.

It’s a dramatic change in expectations from three months ago when it appeared Donald Trump would most likely win re-election, and CIBC analysts had put the odds of meaningful reform at “near-zero” for 2020 and “unlikely” for 2021.

“A fact that has become incredibly obvious from a chaotic 2020 is how quickly things can change,” analysts led by John Zamparo wrote in a note. “We stand by our statement for 2020, but for 2021, well, when the facts change, we change our minds.”

Crazy week ahead:

Stimulus package from congress
JPow testimony mid week
Earnings reports from Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook
