One small worry about TRUL (my biggest position) is their margins are a ridiculous 75% --- that's like a software company -- and I don't think they can keep that up as they expand in different states.

Oh yeah, no chance they can. Building out in each state is damn expensive. That'll be the one benefit of federal legalization.

In truth, they got really lucky that the Florida laws have been so advantageous to them. Basically if you have money you can keep expanding as large as you want to keep up with demand. And no one in that state can compete with their cash flow. Not even Curaleaf or Thumb.. Anyone really. It's expensive to build out and being cash flow positive/profitable allows them to just keep pumping money into their powerhouse infrastructure. Once supply meets demand, however, they will absolutely need to look at M&As. Being in a single state, there is a cap on growth. For now growth continues to explode though.

Illinois is similar, though Cresco and Thumb combined may not equal Trulieve's market share stranglehold on Florida (and Florida isn't even rec legal!).

Hell I am waiting for one of the producers to enter an agreement to put a dispensary in every drug store. First one to do that really wins.
 
Even thought it's not recreationally legal, it must be so easy to get a prescription that I'm not sure how much of a bump full rec will provide

Not as easy as you may think but not as difficult either. I need neck surgery that I have been avoiding for years. Used to take the occasional opioid but really hate how I feel on them so I went with THC. It manages the pain almost as well without me feeling like crap.

I remember being California when it was medical only, and they were handing out medical notes like candy
