Hey nerds: Your streaming rigs

when I was in law school, our downstairs neighbour (who was... different), purchased for us this like sound insulating foam, as she claimed she could always hear our music and it shook her ceiling and kept her up at night. she lived on the main floor of the house and we had the top floor.

trying to be good neighbours, we apologized (we did have a few parties and were often up late at night loud and belligerent) and accepted the foam.

then one night, when all my roommates were either asleep or not home, she comes knocking on our door, complaining about our music. I politely tell her we are not playing music and my roommate is sleeping. she's not convinced, so she's come upstairs to investigate. sure enough, our house is basically silent.

turns out, she'd been hearing the basement neighbour's music all along.

Fronts, sides and bi directional rear speakers are Warfdale (last year they were made in england). Centre is a PSB, subs are Klipsch. Yamaha amp.
Nice. I had Wharfedale Diamonds, very good value for the money.

I have all KEF stuff now. LS50 Metas/Q150 rear for the tv, and LS60 are the white ones I posted with one of their dual driver subs.
when we moved back to Halifax Mrs. Wayward insisted on buying fancy expensive (second hand) speakers. I don't know much about them other than they are really fancy (and the sound quality is excellent, in fairness). most of my interaction with them is moving them to vacuum the floor, and turning down the volume as I have significantly better hearing than the missus and intend to keep it that way...

😆

Gonna bump this one. What are we all using to iptv rig/provider these days? Bought a 4K firestick that should be fine for iptv now and am finally looking at doing this.

I realized recently that I can log-in to my parents Bell Fibe account, and watch all the Leafs and Raptors games that way.

Get some difficulties with regional blackouts but can usually finagle it with my free VPN. Allows me to PVR the games too again.

Mrs. Wayward is not thrilled with these developments lol

my buddy's been trying to sell me on this but i've always balked. probably should just do it. what's your actual monthly with real usage of what you want to watch?

I keep hearing 15-20 bucks a month for iptv. The 4K firestick that you install iptvsmarters on was like 50 bucks on Amazon Days but I think is 70 regular.

I stayed in an airbnb that had iptv this past weekend and I'm sold on it now. Took like 3-4 minutes after boot up for it to load it's full channel schedules, but after that was fantastic.

It’s very tempting for me because there’s a whole bunch of slightly older movies unavailable anywhere in the streaming complex

Apollo TV. Has it's own app which works extremely well. If you buy 6 months its like $110 or something. Highly highly reccomend.

Picked up a Nvidia Shield a few months back. Definitely better than the 4K Firestick I was using before that. Still not perfect... sometimes I have to turn off the VPN in order to watch games smoothly.

Going to dip my toe into the waters first I think before spending the money on slightly better stolen TV. Papa's spending 6 grand on a fucking camera shortly (and another 3 on a new lens ffs) so it'll be cheap baby steps instead of my usual approach of diving in head first with my wallet wide open.
