Hutson named Calder finalist

Sure celebrini had 12 less games played but hutson outscored him (and michkov) by 3 points.

If Celebrini played fewer games that's on him. Hutson shouldn't be penalized for being healthier. And the only way a goalie should ever actually win the Calder is if he takes a non-playoff team to the playoffs or posts ungodly numbers. Wolf had a nice year but it was not eye-popping nor did it get his team out of 9th place.

Why is this a requirement for goalies and not for other positions?

Flames got 96 points, more than any other Calder finalists’ teams.

Not just goalies. Celebrini's presence in San Jose didn't move the needle for the Sharks either. Hutson is the only one who's team made the playoffs and I think it's safe to say that without his contribution that playoff berth would never have been attained. Hutson was more impactful than Celebrini or Wolf.

Habs are drafting top 10 without Lane

Both Hutson and Wolf had a major impact on their team. Each team got 15 more points than the year before. Wolf points % is .622, which would tie the 7th best record in the league for a team. Wolf probably would have made the playoffs had he either played more games earlier in the season or would have played in the Eastern conference.

Hutson’s numbers have been historic, which gives him the nod for me.

And if "if's" and "but's" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

Celebrini and Wolf might have done a lot of things. But only Hutson actually did the things.

The Flames improved on their 23-24 record by 15 points, from 81 to 96pts.

The Habs improved on their 23-24 record by....15 points, from 76 to 91pts.

The relative improvement was identical and the Habs started further behind which means that the Flames started this season with a better overall team than the Habs.

I don't subscribe to this logic when the Flames could feast on a weaker conference. I've no doubt they're would not have gotten 96 points in the East.
Hard to say. The top of the West is better than the top of the East but the bottom of the West is way worse than the bottom of the East.
