Josh Anderson signs 7 x $5.5m

I poke fun at the Bills but I don't have what appears to be a seething hatred for the club I cheer for. I can't recall a time Geeman was positive about anything Habs.

Ya ya, he'll say they've never deserved it. Kinda my point.

I expect one of Chiarot/ Edmundson freeing up another $3M+. Especially if Romanov progresses well.
* All players with no movement clauses at the time of the draft, and who decline to waive those clauses, must be protected and will be counted toward their team's applicable protection limits.
* All first- and second-year NHL players, and all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward protection limits.
In addition, all NHL teams must meet the following minimum requirements regarding players exposed for selection in the draft:
* One defenseman who is a) under contract in 2021-22 and b) played in at least 40 NHL games the prior season or played in at least 70 NHL games in the prior two seasons.
* Two forwards who are a) under contract in 2021-22 and b) played at least 40 NHL games the prior season or played in at least 70 NHL games in the prior two seasons.
* One goalie who is under contract in 2021-22 or will be a restricted free agent at the end of his current contract immediately prior to 2021-22. If a team elects to make a restricted free agent goalie available to meet this requirement, that goalie must have received his qualifying offer prior to the submission of the team's protected list.
* Players with potential career-ending injuries who have missed more than the previous 60 consecutive games (or who otherwise have been confirmed to have a career-threatening injury) may not be used to satisfy a team's player exposure requirements unless approval is received from the NHL. Such players also may be deemed exempt from selection.

Can protect

  • 7 forwards
  • 3 defenseman
  • 1 goalie
So yeah, obviously Price gets protected. Weber, Petry, Chiarot likely too.

Is Suzuki a second year player? I think he doesn't qualify but KK might.

Ironically enough, given Habsy's skepticism about Kaiden Guhle, if there's a potential comparable to him in the NFL, it might be Josh Allen. There was tons of skepticism when Buffalo drafted him as high as they did a few years ago, ahead of some other more highly rated college QB's, based largely on his mostly untapped physical attributes. I'd say it's worked out pretty well for the Bills to date.

Josh is breaking out this season, but the knock on him was his lack of accuracy. The guy has all the other physical tools. Maybe they cleaned up his accuracy....but it's also possible that he's having one of those Wentz type seasons that won't be replicated. Stay tuned.

Truthfully I didn't know enough about him to fall either way. I did read of high ceiling potential so I gave him a shot (in my head obviously)

His accuracy has greatly improved and he has the arm strength to get the ball in tight windows like Favre used to, his arm strength is incredible.

I'm very pleased they passed over the other Josh, Rosen has done squat. It leads me to believe Beane and McDermott know what they're doing.

His arm strength, mobility, athleticism were never in question.

It was a between the ears thing I know and the guy seems to want to learn, seems very humble.

He's been positive about Anderson.

A couple of quotes from Anderson you like to see...

"My whole life, I've proven people wrong. […] This year, I've been training so hard for this opportunity and this moment. I just can't wait to get started, have a great year, and prove a lot of people wrong who haven't believed in me."

After missing all but 26 games last season due to injury, Anderson sought to alleviate any concerns over his health moving forward:

"I just want to make something really clear right now: I am 100% recovered. I feel healthy, I feel strong, I'm ready to go. Last year was a tough year for injuries, being hurt a couple times with the shoulder.

"I've told many people this: I've never been more confident in myself as a player where I'm at right now. I'm healthy, which is great; that's what you want. And I know what I bring to the table. I know what I've done in this League. I'm looking forward to just coming out and doing what I can do to win and help the team be successful. I'm not going to change anything just because I had shoulder surgery, I'm not going to be less physical. I'm going to still play my type of game."
