Leaf Rumours

komi's not technically playing ahead of him, Gleason is concussed.

but it's still true that it's been a close battle between the two to be the Canes' #7 dman this year.

I don't think Nonis is going to panic nor do I believe he will do anything stupid. I think he will do what's right even if that means falling out of the playoff race.
I sure hope so.

I don't think missing the playoffs is an option.

He will try to push us in if we're on the brink.

Can't believe how far we've sunk with a shitty stretch like we've had.

We've sunk from 3rd to 6th.

With the way the playoffs work now, you are actually the 2nd wild card and would play Pittsburgh in the first round if the playoffs started tomorrow.

Even though you have more points than the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the Metro Division, you are essentially the 8th seed.

Its such a stupid format.

So Detroit has more overall points than the Leafs, but Toronto has won more games and had less overtime loser points. This means Detroit gets into the post season before them?? That's sound logic.

It's a very stupid format. Teams with less points will make the playoffs over teams with more. Only the NHL could come up with stupidity like this.

It is stupid, for sure.

Why not just slot the 2 division winners 1-2, and let the next 6 best teams make the playoff in the order of their point total?

I guess NHL doesn't want it cuz it makes too much sense?

Toronto's done better in the shootout, which has been the big diff. Detroit is 0-4, and is actually still ahead of you guys in ROW. It actually makes sense that they're ahead of you in the standings.

NHL wants to go back to the old days as much as possible.... 2nd place in division plays 3rd place in division..... division winner plays wild card.

then the winners of those two series face off.

So they are trying to do as much "divisional playoffs" like pre 1993 as possible, while adding some wildcards so bad 4th place team doesn't make it over good 5th place.

Oh and get this... its possible that 4 teams in each division can make it... but if the points go like this.

1st Atlantic
1st Metro
...
...
...
...
.

1st wild card Atlantic
1st wild card Metro.

The Atlantic division winner will play the fourth place team in the Metro, and vice versa.

------
Basically, the NHL overthinks the whole ****ing process.... its too confusing and convoluted.
