Leaf Rumours

While I get the extreme frustration levels everyone has with this team, does the forum have to turn into Lord of the Flies? We are seemingly a loss short of people smearing fecal matter in their hair and screaming, if not borderline there already.

I'd rather mbow30 act the way he is rather than flying off the handle and calling for the coaches head every time the leafs lose.We got enough of that already, lets balance things out a bit lol

Every time the leafs face a losing streak this board goes full hfboard. Every time.

honestly, i think having lupul as a leader is a bit of a problem.

i can't say i'd be too upset if carlyle was let go at this point because things clearly aren't working... but i think certain problems run deeper than the coach.

+1. Leafs are still 4-4-2 in their past 10. Yeah, it's been ugly. We're a young team, we're struggling, it happens.

Carlyle's made some questionable personnel decisions, no doubt. The guy's got a pretty serious track record of success, and short of Laviolette, I can't think of any coaches out there I'd want him replaced with.

You can point to that record all you want - but you have 3 ROW's in the past 20+ games.

If it wasn't for the Leafs drastic improvement in the shootout this team would be battling for a lottery pick.

Going to have to disagree. The team has been in shambles since Mid-November. Their overall play and effort have not been there at all and the only games we seem to win are win our goalies are in top form.

Point at the record all you want but I feel there are some real deep issues on this club based on their on-ice performance for more then half of the season

Your not looking at the bigger picture, since the beginning of November we've gone 11-16-5 (69 pt pace over 82 games), this isn't just your run of the mill slump that all teams go through, this is a team that is about to go over the cliff.

Take away the record for a minute here, the Leafs have been badly outplayed and outshot in most of their games this season (save for a handful of games), to me that is incredibly concerning and a bad reflection on the players, coaching staff, and managment.

I'll always support the Leafs but man I can't turn a blind eye to their play this season either, and if something drastic isn't done asap were going to find ourselves out of the playoffs, not that we deserve to be in them at this point though.

I think hell has frozen over because Corks you and I actually are on the same page with this, the only thing I want to add though goaltending has been the Leafs saving grace this season, although its crumbling at the moment.

4 regulations wins in the last 32 games.

1 regulation win in the last 23 games (I think).

0 regulation road wins since Oct 30th.

Oct 30th.

Call us names all you want, but this is reality. Maybe they turn it around magically and get 9 wins in their next 10 games, but if you want to evaluate this team for its performance so far, those are the numbers right there.
 
No reason to exclude OT wins. They are as legit as anything - and follows the same format as playoff games.

But your point remains.
 
Team will always have apologists...it's hard to accept the fact that for the better part of 10 years now, this team has really been a one step forward one and a half steps backwards. If they fall out of playoff position, it's just more of the same.

I get the sky is falling crowd too. It's a bit embarrassing to back the perennial loser.
