Leaf Rumours

Reimer is a legit, above average or better starting goalie.

The only question is whether or not we can rely on his health. That is my only hesitation in saying we are set and don't need to go out and find another option. He has literally never been healthy.

This is true. But it's a risk I'm willing to take. The head injury was pretty unlucky - we could trade for another goalie and then watch them get knocked out in their first game.

Sources say Vancouver reached out to Toronto this week to revisit Loungo talks.Flames hoping for a better read on Kipper's future this wknd.
That's better. Makes much more sense too, I bet Vancouver is reaching the desperation point to dump that contract. Hopefully the other 29 GM's stand pat and let them eat it.

Yeah, **** Gillis. Hopefully at this point, the Canucks will just be forced to amnesty Luongo. And then as a result, Gillis loses his job.

Oh, and another Dregs tweet to add to that,

As I said earlier...as much as there's interest in considering goalie options, Leafs likely do nothing. We need the speculation for April 3.

Let the relief wash over us! ;)

Gillis is so desperate **** him. Remember when he whined the Leafs were using the media to lower Luongo's value? LOL. Guy has no value because of that ridiculous ****ing contract.

Oh course he's reaching out. I hope Nonis doesn't even pick-up the phone.

We were right. Media was wrong. Luongo to Florida made zero sense. Florida Panthers agree with us.

I'm starting to think that the way this shakes out is Vancouver trading Schneider out of desperation, and just living with Luongo in net.

That, or a Luongo amnesty.

No one is taking that contract.

But I do find myself wondering, if they'd accept Grabs, Liles, and Komi, and thereby clear up all our other cap issues, would I do it. I still think no, unless they throw in a 1st rounder, then I think I would. Then I'd get 1.25 years out of Luongo, and if we didn't want him anymore, amnesty him ourselves.

There are some creative possibilities here, now that I play things out.

The worst part of this for Van is that Luongo is having a pretty mediocre year.

He was a tough sell after a good year, trying to trade him after a mediocre year, good luck to them.

Hypothetical:

We trade for Luongo, and he gives us 5 good years and then shits the bed. What happens with his contract if we amnesty it? We are on the hook for how much? Is Vancouver still liable for any of the contract?

Im just trying to the thinkif there is a "best case" scenario in the Luongo trade beyond the fact that we get an elite name goalie.

Only amnesty is this summer or next. After that you're back to the normal buyout.

On the radio it was mentioned before the season started Gillis insisted on Kadri + Gunnarson + 1st for Luongo, Toronto told him to take a hike and he ended up creating all kinds of stories about how they had a deal on the table for Luongo etc .... obviously that 'deal' never materialized.

Now Vancouver's reached out to Toronto, asking "only" Bozak + 1st to take Luongo's contract off their hands, and Nonis said the price is too high.

On another note, J-Bo will be traded, as per Dreger, but he believes the asking price for J-Bo is 'too high' right now. "Too high" in Calgary terms probably = 2 bags of new pucks? :)

Hopefully we get it on that one. J-Bo that is.

THe only reason i even entertain the Luongo trade is because of the fact that Luongo would buy us another 3 years minimum of good-elite goaltending. In my opinion, Luongo if given the opportunity would be a star here. A guy that can handle the media as well as with a proven track record the fans can get behind.

Just a guess, considering how gun shy most GM's are to add term that extends into next year.

1 roster player + 1 B Prospect + 1st rounder

so, just for the sake of argument....Bozak + Percy + 1st

That is the exact same package that I came up with when I was mulling this option over in my head.

the 1st should be a conditional.

COndition being we win the cup. Otherwise Vancouver can go f*ck themselves. If not, they get a 3rd rounder.

i think the leafs need a d-man but i don't think i'd touch bouwmeester. dude instills no confidence. i could see him wilting in the playoffs, but even if he doesn't, he's such a bizarre awkward dude that i could see him being anathema in this locker room. especially if he comes in at the expense of a guy like bozak, whoe verybody seems to like.

I usually like your trade suggestions. If you think we need a d-man (and I'd agree) who would you target?
