Leaf Rumours

The guy looked like a PPG 1st liner for the first 33 games last season then fizzled out. Minus a game against Ottawa he did virtually nothing for 3 weeks.

Aside from that stretch of games his production hasn't been top-6. Unless you think a 34 point pace (as a rookie) and a 27 point pace (as a sophomore) is what a 2nd liner should be.

Like it or not, there are legitimate questions about where the guy will plateau out.

Kadri has produced at a 1st line rate in every season (with any decent sample size), at every level, since he was 15/16 year old.

All Kadri seasons in which he played at least 40 games:

07/08, OHL: 78 pt pace
08/09, OHL: 114 pt pace
09/10, OHL: 136 pt pace
10/11, AHL: 76 pt pace
11/12, AHL: 69 pt pace
12/13, NHL: 75 pt pace

Kadri's pretty much a lock for top 6 production (hell, he posted top 6 production in half a season last year). And there's a very good chance he establishes himself as a 1st liner, based on his history. He's consistently been a top player everywhere.

If people want to judge him based on a 10 game slump and disregard his history, they are going to be very wrong about him, like they were last season.

Kadri played at 75 point pace last year, playing 16 mins a game (2nd unit PP time), with Kulemin/MacArthur/Komarov being his most frequent linemates.

Wait until he's playing 18-20 minutes with Lupul or Kessel.

He's going to be as good as Kessel, if not better in some seasons.

Team Canada D pairs: Doughty-M Staal; Hamhuis-Subban; Phaneuf-Seabrook; Bouwmeester-Pietrangelo-Hamonic. Last one is obviously a trio.

Christ, the media coverage of this has been nothing short of embarrassing. Following and releasing BREAKING UPDATES about a freaking road hockey camp?

Agreed.

But how did people not know there was no on ice camp?...it is all the media talked about for the last 2 months.

I miss the lockout.

Unrestricted free agent Damien Brunner decided to test the market opting to become a free agent instead of negotiating an extension with the Detroit Red Wings.

Free agency hasn't been as kind to Brunner as he thought it might be. He remains unsigned and has only had confirmed interest from the New Jersey Devils back in July.

Brunner had a slow season putting up 26 points in 44 games, but was a staple with the Wings during their playoff run.

The contract Brunner is looking for is a two-year $5 million deal, which teams do not seem to be biting on.

The Red Wings are still in the mix to re-sign Brunner if he lowers his asking price. Other teams who have shown interest include the Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

There may be multiple serious offers on the table for Brunner, but as George Malik reports he's looking for the best opportunity to play, not the most money.
