Leaf Rumours

Holland has been tearing it up for the Marlies in the last few games. TSN is even reporting that Nonis could be looking at either Gards or Kadri and wants a first line centre in return or an elite winger of a 2-3 defeneseman.

Holland was sent down because he can't be used as a number 4 centre and he will very likely be a cheaper sign in the long run than Kadri. So whose to say that Holland can't play that centre roll on the second line. Kane on the second and done.

JVR Bozak Kessel
Lupul Holland Kane
Raymond Bolland/Mclement Clarkson

Just throwing this out there

Reimer not on the only one missing from Leafs skate; Bozak, Fraser, Gleason, D'Amigo also absent

Noting that the Jets just fired Noel, and Reimer could have skated as he isn't playing tonight.... could there be smoke to the fire.

Reimer to Winnipeg makes plenty o sense

A lot of players are missing from morning skate so I don't think anything is happening trade wise yet; but I definitely see Reimer getting moved before the trade deadline.

Not sure if its been reported here but Brian Rafalski is making a comeback and signed a deal with an ECHL club, might be something to keep an eye on as he was a always a solid top 4 d-man

Just means Reimer is starting tonight.

1. Nothing new about Gardiner, teams have been supposedly inquiring about him for a trade, these rumours date back to last season
2. Kadri and Gardiner seperate or together likely won't fetch a legit first line centre (unless you want to consider ROR in that category), no team is going to give us a stud winger either for them. A top 4 defensmen though I think is fesable for a package involving Kadri/Gardiner, I'd really love it if Nonis could snag Girardi away from the Rangers
3. Holland was sent down because he wasn't being utilized properly and Nonis didn't want to give up a 2nd rounder for a guy playing 4th line minutes.

Kadri gards reimer, the three breakout young leaf talents that finally got us back into the playoffs, have been treated like garbage all offseason and season, and are now on the trade block.

Mindboggling.

I'd be totally up for that Hoss. Kane does a lot of things right and that line would kick ass imo. Plenty of speed, skill and board play.

Why trade from a position of weakness to strengthen the one position that doesn't need it (aside from goaltending)?

Seems like making a move for the sake of making a move without any clear direction or purpose.

Supposedly theres a round of the flu and food poisoning making its way through the dressing room which is why a lot of players missed practice.

Kane would be an upgrade on Kadri(speed, shot, production) and Holland is a more complete center anyways(i think in terms of production he can be a 50 pt guy). While i like what Naz does at times, he's way too inconsistent when it comes to moving his feet and making good decisions with the puck. Once he does it he can be a difference maker, i just think it doesn't happen often enough and I don't believe it'll just come one day(no way you should be going 10+ games where you look so shit in terms of your effort)..Besides, you can always trade players later on(Franson, JVR) to get that #1 center. In the mean time you add better players to have that option later. I'd probably go with this right away...

Kane...Bozak...Kessel(Kane is much better at going into corners compared to weak ass JVR)
Lupul...Holland...Kulemin
JVR....Bolland....Clarkson
D'Amigo...McClement...Ashton

That gives us balance to play any way we want.

I haven't always been Kadri's biggest fan but I find it funny your so so quick to write of Kadri and willing to bet the farm on an even more unproven guy in Holland. Kadri has the speed, vision and tenacity to make things happen out there however he's really young and along with youth comes immaturity and inconsistency, eventually Kadri will grow into at worst an upper tier 2C and who knows he may even be a legit #1C. Holland has potential too with his size, hands and speed but he's even younger then Kadri and hasn't proven anything yet, who knows what he could turn out to be, but to write him in and write Kadri out is way too soon.

As for Kane, he'd be a great fit for the Leafs on wing but the question becomes where do u slot him? Kessel/JVR have the top 2 spots anchored down, Lupul has the 2nd LW spot locked in, I guess you could bump Raymond off but where do u put him then?

How exactly is Kane an upgrade on Kadri's production?
