Leafs acquire Jack Campbell and Kyle Clifford

Campbell's career marks are about perfectly average both raw sv% (.916) and dsv% (-0.02), even strength and PP.

one thing to note is that both LA goalies have disastrous dsv% on the PK this year, and when I see that I usually think that that's the xsv% metric struggling to sort out PK data.

Yeah, I'm starting to look into the numbers and this one jumped out at me:

5 on 5 SV%

Freddy: .917%
Campbell: .915%

and just because....

Georgiev: .915

I imagine Campbell starts Friday, Kaski goes down and once Andersen is back, bye bye Hutch.

I'd feel better about Campbell if he had some sort of AHL track record. Had a nice 36 NHL games in back to back seasons but outside of that his career averages are remarkably underwhelming. My expectations are low but there's a 0% chance he's worse than hutch so at the end of the day they had to do this.

Had to do something. I like Moore but he never got going this year due to the injuries. Lots of opportunity in LA for him.

Campbell has a .821 sv% on the PK this season

LA has a decent penalty kill, but ours is stupid good

PK High Danger Chances Against/60

Leafs: 13.93 (1....by a lot)
L.A: 20.98 (16)

This might be sneaky good.

That conditional third round pick in ‘21 has to do with whether or not Clifford re-signs with Toronto and a number of wins by Campbell.... so two conditions attached to that pick.

Clifford

19-20: D+ qoc, 1.15ap/60, 53.6cf% (+1.0relT), 54.9xgf% (+2.3relT)
18-19: D+ qoc, 1.40ap/60, 51.3cf% (+4.6relT), 52.4xgf% (+4.7relT)
17-18: D+ qoc, 0.94ap/60, 52.9cf% (+4.6relT), 52.4xgf% (+5.8relT)

3 Yrs: D+ qoc, 1.20ap/60, 52.5xgf% (+3.4relT), 53.2xgf% (+4.2relT)

Yeah that's the kind of truculence you want on your 4th line.

Yeah Campbell has been pretty average overall, although he has had a rough season this year. Thats all they needed. Plus he is signed for 2 more years at $1.6.

Yeah.. I'd say he's a guy I want Dubas to sign honestly. Not too old, will be cheap. Local guy.

I'd feel better about Campbell if he had some sort of AHL track record.

I agree, but he'd hardly be the first goalie who was okay, just okay in the AHL and decent or better in the show. Corey Crawford was a ~.912 starter over 4 full seasons in the AHL before he came and did his thing.

Campbell isn't going to do that here, but be a .905-.910 backup? Yeah, I don't think his AHL numbers suggest that he can't.

Hope so. He also wouldn't be the first guy to have a random high level first 30-40 games in the NHL and then fade to obscurity. Crapshoot really. And I don't trust nerd shit with goaltending so I'm not going to say Kyle has much more insight than us.
