Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

It wouldn't surprise me to see some offense come back to his game this year as well. The tools are still there for that to happen.

Nick Robertson - is Brendan Gallagher a good comparison? Darcy Tucker?

It's a tough read because Robertson is just so fucking young for his draft class. I would argue that his tools pop more than either's (better skater, slicker hands) did at the same age but getting a handle on where his offensive production slots is hard. Darcy was prolific in junior and Gallagher was legitimately very good

If you look at their draft year production, Robertson lags both by quite a bit

Darcy: 1.32ppg
BG: 1.13ppg
NR: 1.02ppg

Robertson is only a couple of days away from not having been eligible this draft. Had this been his D-1 season, this is how that would stack

Darcy: .5ppg
BG: .6ppg
NR: 1.02

Granted, Robertson would have roughly the same age advantage over those 2 here, that they had over him in the first comparison, but with a more pronounced advantaged offensively.

With that out of the way, Robertson is different than either. He doesn't play with the red misted rage that Darcy played with or the epic scumbaggery and trolling that Gallagher plays with. He's a little faster, a little slicker than either but not nearly as physical. So a good comparison...sort of, yeah.

I feel dirty wishing for a Marchy of our own though (obviously it would be amazing if Robertson turned into half the player he is, I just feel gross hoping for it)

Online chatter has the prospects tournament games being streamed on the home/away teams websites (or twitter).

So keep checking mapleleafs.com for a streaming link.

Robertson is legit mother fucking awesome. Korshkov is junk though.

SDA confuses me. Looks awesome every time I see him. But his numbers... Yikes.

I'm looking forward to seeing him in camp, and seeing what kind of step forward he can take in the OHL this year.

Following our CHL prospects especially was kind of grim last year, so it'd be nice to have someone to be excited about.
