Leafs - Sens - Habs 2013-14

You were implying the real Leafs were not the team they were at the end of the season. Fine. They also were not the six straight win team from earlier in the year. Ultimately, they are what they are, a team that was only two over .500 this year.

I still am not getting how I said anything otherwise. What exactly is your point?

Of course no one cares about that because it was to their benefit. They were only comfortably in because they won six in a row at one point.

No one expected them to lose what 12 of their last 14 or whatever the number was. It was a total choke, even more epic than the last ten minutes in Boston last year.

They should have been in. However, overall, they are a two games over 500 team.

Thank you counsellor, that was my point. so you admit that without the collapse at the end, they're in.

and the Leafs had a horrible stretch earlier in the year you chose not to mention for some reason, even though it was several times the length of the aforementioned winning streak.

The collapse is part of the season though.

Does the "should have been in" crowd want Carlyle and Nonis retained? Since it's not their fault Bernier got hurt, innit?

I think I'm in the minority, but I'm more a fan of Carlyle than Nonis. And I wouldn't be devastated if we kept one or both of them.

Seems like Nonis has been pretty neutered anyways, which I'm quite okay with.

Carlyle is a must go. Nonis is a should go. With Nonis completely de balled, it's not a big deal unless someone comes available that would be an improvement.

Carlyle is the only coach in the last 10 years that has gotten the Leafs to the playoffs. Perhaps that's worth noting before you fire him?

Not in the least.

The short season shows us the perils of extrapolation and "on pace" thinking. Plenty of stuff didn't carry over from the short year.

one thing that has gone a bit overlooked: looks like the anti-reamer thing had absolutely nothing to do with Carlyle. That was Leiweke all the way. Randy just went with whoever played better...

well when healthy it wasn't even a contest, Bernier was better than Reimer.

fortunately the issue was decisively settled on the ice for all but the most die-hard of tinfoil hat wearing Reimerites.

Twitter is still a Reimer loving site....mostly because he's a nice guy was screwed by Carlyle. But these are the same people that wept for Grabovski and MacArthur.

There is a legion of Devil's fans that hate Parise for leaving, call him a traitor, but are begging to have David Clarkson back to Clarkie's Corner.

Lesson?

Idiots everywhere.

Nope, but this is worth noting-
- Went from home ice to eliminated from the playoffs in a 3 week span
- Using Clarkson on the 2nd line most games despite a guy like Ranger outscoring him LOL
- 28th overall penalty kill (78.3%)
- 25th overall in shots for (27.9 per game)
- 30th overall in shots against (35.9 per game)

I'm sure guys like Mindz and Zeke can give u much more detailed corsi stats then I can ,but still being near dead last in several key categories and collapsing your way out of the playoffs is more then enough grounds to fire Carlyle.

I'm sure he's a great guy off the ice, but he wasn't screwed by Carlyle... guy was given chances to regain the #1 role but didn't, fault Randy for a lot of things but that's not one of them.
