League and Rules Discussion

Friendly reminder that 150 games is the limit for players to be eligible for your farm...I've seen a few managers with guys in the 180s still sitting in the farm...doubt it's on purpose as Fantrax is stupid on how it enforces, so not naming and shaming but just sayin' check your farm out to make sure you're complaint.

I changed the settings so it now shows in the "Roster Violations" section.

A little easier for everyone to go look there instead of having to individually look at each player.

Maybe I'm the only one, but anyone else have interest in making a rule where you can put one player who has a red flag on IR?

Would have come up with some kind of criteria, but that would be the basis.

This isn't the first time I've been handcuffed with a player who has missed a bunch of games but the NHL team won't put him on IR.

So, basically we'd have a flex spot for an injured player not on IR? I could get behind that. I think everyone has been in the same boat with that scenario this year.

With it being a dynasty league, it's definitely tough to drop a semi-valuable player that has been "out" for a considerable amount of time. This would help to mitigate the problem while creating some cap relief to stream a free agent.

Count me in as a +1 with this idea.

I don't mind the idea of being able to put any day to day or IR player onto the IR. It's not our fault that the real life team doesn't feel it necessary to put them on the IR. I think it was Stepan earlier this year who missed like a month but the Rangers never put him on the IR.

I wanna bring up another topic which hasnt been discussed yet, which should increase trading but I'm unsure of how to track it.

Trades in the NHL are fairly common where one team holds part of the cap hit of a player. I think if we were able to do this in our league that it could be a good way to boost trades, especially high salary player trades.

As to how we would keep track of this is the problem as far as I can see. I guess the players salary could be edited after the trade and subtracted from the other teams total. But I think that would just become a mess and might create problems with fantrax. The other idea I can come up with is editing the team's salary cap to make up for the trade but then we might run into problems if said player is dropped or traded again.

Any thoughts?

I'd definitely be on board with this if we were able to figure out a good way to track it and some good rules to prevent managers from being able to have a bunch of players that they're paying only part of their salary and therefore basically go $20M over the cap.

It's an interesting idea. On another subject, is the next scoring period only Jan 26-28 due to the ASG? Would make sense to extend it to include the following week's games as well, no?

Only way it wouldn't be a nightmare to track is if say each team was able to make one trade every 2 years with salary retention. If not it could get out of hand.
Also I agree with Deckie we should make the ASW a two weeks match-up. Should we raise game limit as well

I took a look – you have to make a request with Fantrax to get the periods merged, which is easy enough, but I think there would be too much hassle with the GP limits.

Easier in our other H2H league because I just police the limits myself.

I'm good with this as long as it's only red flagged guys.

I'd also like to rejig the scoring system for next year.

Something even closer to what we have in the Leafboard Dynasty league. I used that for a base and then added a few other stats... but I'm not sure it works as well as I had hoped.

Noticed multiple roster violations. Multiple teams using IR spots for players that have been off IR since before all start break. As well as prospects that have gone over 150 games still in minors. ( by like 30 games ).

Yep, it's getting a bit ridiculous with one team. 16 mil in IR spot usage on players who aren't on IR anymore. Keeps quite a few additional players on the roster.

Obviously we need to wait until the off season before we replace someone, but with only 14 teams, active owners are really important. It sucks that we've seemed to have lost a few guys...
