A lot of the top big guys are ''ugly skaters''...

The ''nicest'' skater is probably Malkin....being able to move so easily and fluid at his height is pretty amazing....reminds me of Beliveau

where do you rank Howie Morenz in that group

For much of the early part of his career people said Mario Lemieux was a lazy skater because his stride was so long.

Nichushkin is another one. Amazing agility for a 6"4 dude. I am still upset we didn't ask him to be included in the Gonchar deal. Thanks Bergevin!

But seriously, I think the big guys are taught to keep it "simple". If they can skate north-south very fast, that's all they will ever need to have success in the NHL. Hoping McCarron learns to skate ugly but powerful like Pacioretty.

A stacked chl team is still going to lose to the worst ahl team and badly. Youre still looking at 60 chl teams plus ushl.. plus europe plus ncaa etc... etc...

Not even all first liners will make it. Not even all all stars.

And if you think its just size and not skill... i think you vastly underrate the difference in speed from junior to the nhl.

Of course AHL is better, but it has less disparity. A top CHL team can graduate to the AHL as many as 6 forwards in a given year. A bottom CHL team may not produce even a single one. So while a guy playing for a top team can be technically a "third liner", he's still a hell lot more talented than a first liner on some bottom feeder in the Maritimes (no offense). All I am saying is that these kind of blanket generalisations don't help your analysis.

How many chl teams have had their entire top 6 graduate to the ahl in the same year?

How many have seen their entire top 6 become nhl regulars (lets put a minimum gp here... 100).

I havent looked but i dont think there will be many

Of course a few guys who wetr third liners at 19 make it.... but very few and far between.

They are so few and far between... its fair to say that if you are on a third line at 19 the chances of being an nhler are very slim.

I think graduating six forwards IN a single may be an exaggeration. Sorry! I know the London Knights of 2013-2014 have graduated 4 but I don't know if anyone has graduated 6.
I should have said that a top CHL team FROM a single year will graduate six forwards to AHL.

Update on @nikscherbak: movement in all his extremities and his head/neck are okay. Undergoing tests for a potential back injury.
